goodbye old, green, friend

It seems fitting that our family said goodbye to an old friend tonight on the SPT day of old friends.

Less than 24 hours after we listed our 12 year old car on Craigslist we said goodbye to it. (love craigslist)
With 90935 miles at 7:52 in the evening (we never changed the time from Nashville time) we waved goodbye to the Green Jetta. Those miles accumulated driving to BYU, Tulane and Vanderbilt, you could say it drove Jeff to his career. I believe this car knows how to drive on it's own - with the many sleepless nights at 3:00 am when Jeff was driving it - the Jetta had to some the work.
I always thought we would keep it for Annie Kate's first car and the girls. But not the case it was time to say farewell old friend. I love VW's and most of my life have had one, but no more. No one would be shocked that I got a little teary when Jeff shook the guys hand over the deal and took the money. It is the end of era, we may never own a car again that you wind the windows down with a handle and have to pull up the locks yourself to open the door, or a stick shift. Goodbye green Jetta!
