invite

I had to document one of the cutest invitations I have ever seen for a birthday party. The party was last week, which we missed due to our sick household.

My friend who had the party could seriously write a book on kids birthday parties. Here was her wording for the non-sleep over party. I am a non-sleepover mom (or as Annie Kate calls me - party pooper) so this was a perfect idea of how to give your kids the feel of a sleep over without all the headache.
............................
Bring a sleeping bag, pillow and favorite stuffed friend,
Come for a sleepover that is PRETEND.

So wear your pajamas and we will have lots of fun,
you can sleep at your house when it's all done.
............................

how to make:

  • pre-quilted fabric cut to make sleeping bag. folded in half and sewn up the sides. The pinking shear edge really made it cute
  • die cut of little girl. she did each one to match the girl who was receiving the invite. little die cut is not attached
  • small piece of white felt for the pillow
  • card pulls out and has information printed on it.
So when my friend finally prints her birthday book, i will let you all know. (Kimberly hint, hint!)

What cute invites have you received lately?

Easter
Our Easter week has been a long and wonderful week. As a family we started having A Christ Center Easter about 3 years ago. We do a various of things each night to follow the last week of Christ's life. I will try to recap the week after Spring Break. It has been a simple tradition with such wonderful meaning.
Last year I sent out Easter Cards to a few friends. I loved making the cards but after I put them in the mail I had already started to think of what I could send the next year to have the card be more focused on the true meaning of Easter.

So this year I decided to send an empty envelope. I know it sounds crazy. Inside the envelope near the top I put the scripture Mark 16:1-6 on a clear sticker. I hope those who receive the envelope will then be prompted to go to read the scripture which talks about when they looked for Christ but the tomb was empty. I think of how surprised they must have been, fully expecting there to be His body inside. Just like you would never think to open an envelope and have it be empty. I think of how fast the word must have spread after they found the empty tomb - "He Lives, He Lives"
It is a miracle that He lives. It is all apart of the wonderful plan for us all to live again.

Happy Easter

Last years Valentines Card

This was my Valentines card last year. I know there are a lot of you who use Scrapbook Factory Deluxe program (you can get this at Costco) and you could make this in that. I made this in my Printmaster Program but you could use any graphics program.

A clicked draw an object and drew a circle. I then changed the shape to a starburst and filled it in dark brown. I made 8 of them. I then drew another circle, changed the shape into the lighter chocolate shapes and layered them on top of the dark brown wrapper. With the last shape being the heart. I drew a text box and placed it to the right bottom of the card. The font is from 2 peas in a bucket called Gift Box.

I printed these on Presentation paper and then xyroned (Amanda more to come) them onto chip board just a hair bigger than the printed card. It was like a post card. I put them in a clear cellophane envelopes (Michael's now sells these).

They really turned out great and just wanted to share. Or I guess you could just right click the image and paste into your program. I have been trying to get my Valentines out this week and just like my Christmas cards I have 3 different ones because I could not decide.

Happy Valentines Making!
