She Photographs on Tuesdays

This weeks challenge was Spring Fever!

On a walk this past week I saw one of the many fields of daffodils in our neighborhood. They seem to be every where. We have not lived here in the spring and I am just amazed at it's beauty. The cherry blossoms are coming out and it is just incredible.
I thought to myself, perfect. I will lay down in the field of beauty and take my photo.

I took two photos. I am glad I did. i thought the one behind the flowers would be more artsy.

but I am glad I took the second because it reminded me of what I love about myself.
  1. i love my eyes
  2. i love that i have brown hair even though i get blonde highlights
  3. i love my nose
  4. i love my freckles
  5. and i love that i have nothing on my lips but that they look pink!
Now all of this really has nothing to do with Spring Fever, but I have so loved having a fun challenge every week and the self discovery I seem to find out something new about myself.

Thanks again Lelly for our fun challenges every week. I have been on the hunt for the perfect gift to send you as a thank you. And yesterday I found it at a second hand shop. It was exactly what I had in mind. As I was cleaning it to send to you,(that will teach me to clean) it slipped and fell on the floor. The mirror and the plastic broke. I was crushed. It was vintage, great color, two sided mirror and the perfect symbol to thank you for encouraging me to look in the mirror every week!

So, untill I find the next one, this photo will have to do! Thanks again.

this week's challenge is to show us a lucky charm. perhaps it is a piece of jewelry? or a talisman you carry in your pocket? do you have something on your desk or in your home that brings you good fortune? is it a baseball hat or a smelly old t-shirt? did someone give it to you? why is it meaningful to you? will you tell us about a time when it brought you good luck?

I did not have to think hard about this one. The best Good luck charm I have ever had is "Biffy" Santa Claus brought him to me 32 years ago. He is a little bean doll that has been with me all growing up, lived in the dorms with me (hidden from my roommate) he didn't go on my mission with me but moved in with Jeff and I when we got married.

I love this doll. He has had lots of scrapes and bumps along the way. I will never forget ironing and sewing on the yellow sugar smacks patch that I had got out of the cereal box. finding yarn out of my mother's needlepoint kit and sewing him up form time to time.

He now lives on the top shelf in my sewing room. I love this guy!

Self Portrait Tuesday

Challenge Mirror, Mirror on the wall

So the mirror I chose was the rear view mirror in the passenger side of my car. I spend more time in the passenger side of my car then I do the drivers side. I don't have to drive very much, for me everything is so close. The times that I spend most in the car are when we are adventuring in our new city. Jeff usually does the driving so that is why I am in the passenger side.
The photo is of me on the George Washington Parkway with the Potomac River in view.

I have been told recently that I dive right into any city I live in. Although, this is nothing you would physically notice about me, I think this photo which could be taken on any Saturday or Sunday of any week reflects this part of my personality.

The three cities I have lived in since being married, New Orleans, Nashville and D.C are ones I would have never chosen on my own. I have LOVED every single one. I have tried to make the best out of each new situation.

You can't see this from the photo but I love and will always think that any place I live is the greatest place to live.

note to self - when choosing to write on my foot with magic marker find one that washes off easily. the word best is still on my foot as clear as it was last Tuesday.

Self Portrait Tuesday

Theme: Put your Best Foot Forward

my right foot is my best foot, the nails grow better, it is not at dry and cracked and it even says so right on the foot, "Best"
my toe nails are never painted, if I ever get a pedicure I have them painted clear. My feet are size 10 but wear an 11 1/2 in a running shoe. They are not as cracked this winter thanks to Anne who sent me the best foot creme ever! I love ribbon especially when it is pink and green.

what is this post all about? check out Lelly's challenge. try it you will like it.
