These two could have their own online show!
Episode 1 - The Pledge of Allegiance

my favorite part is at the end when Caroline has a sudden rush to go to the bathroom and her face when she feels it coming on.  then her telling Sally Jane to pause it, which then Sally Jane thinks she must say the word "Pause" to pause the machine.

 I Spy a Pineapple

On Sunday Jeff had all of the youth from our church congregation over cookies and a little get to know you game, followed up with some motivational thoughts.
(in the Mormon church we call this a fireside - yet no fire was seen by any)I counted 55 youth and about 15 grown ups

The next morning our neighbor said to us, "Wow that was the biggest and quietest party I have ever seen.  Everyone there was as quiet as a church mouse".  Funny huh?

One the grown-ups heard one of the teenage boys say to another boy, "boy they sure have a lot of pine cones in this house.  I wonder why"

This of course made me laugh and was sure he was talking about the pineapples.

Today I got my new rug for my front door and thought about what he will say next time.  "Sheesh enough already!"
I decided to just go on the main part of our house to see what he must have seen that made him think I had so many.  I didn't think it was noticeable.  (keep in mind I didn't go outside in the garden area or upstairs, this is scary)
little cast iron one outside the front door
large one when you walk in
my lamp (gifted to us by Jeff's brother - LOVE IT!)
my white painted artichokes in iron urn (from goodwill of course!)
Silver platter given as a gift from a stylish friend in Tennessee
 wonderful TJMaxx vase
Bath and Body works 2011 Pineapple edition candle
great 40th birthday gift from a neighbor that she purchased from Goodwill and holds our lemon drops that the kids get each night we read our scriptures
wonderful matching iron and painted urns from a Tennessee garage sale that I kind of stole out of my friend Mark's hands.  (hope it makes him feel better that I still love them)
Bath and Body 2009 Pineapple Candle edition (yep every year they come out with one)
2010 Bath and Body works Pineapple.
I usually buy a fresh pineapple once a week to either give away or eat
little artichoke shaped candle _ first purchase at Tai Pan in St. George Utah

Jim Shore Pineapple from my friend Mindy

So as they walk out of my house next month they will have one more pineapple to count. Yikes they must think we are crazy!

my kitchen corner

After a million times of changing the picture over my desk and recovering my chair, I think I may finally my kitchen desk all set.
  • Great outdoor fabric with a pineapple on my $10.00 Goodwill chair - which was already painted, score!
  • Vera Bradely desk calendar!  Ok I have so loved this, this year and think it may be the best Christmas teacher gift ever.
  • Tuesday morning fake flower in white urn.  Never have to water and has not died yet.
  • Home Goods framed print
  • yarn spool with scissors on top - I bought this at a specialty store in town and love the concept of always having string to tie and scissors to cut.
  • perfect little clock my mom gave me forever ago from Brighton that finally has the perfect home.
  • pad of monogrammed paper that I can always whip out to right on at a moments notice.
  • TJMaxx pink and green boxes to hold the ugly cookbooks down below.
See it only takes a year to get settled in.
(chances are good will look totally different in 6 months)

Today on my daily journey to one of my favorite sites, I saw Jeff's tie and thought.  "Wow that looks just like the tie we made Jeff last year"
And it was!

Thanks One Pretty Thing (my daily stop) for thinking my idea worthy of all your creative finds.

A new kind of Mother's Day

Sally Jane does not look so excited to take our annual Mother's Day photo, but none the less we took it.

Sunday was just a great new kind of Mother's Day.  It was Jeff's first day as Bishop of our church congregation. He conducted the meeting and even had time after the speakers to share a few thoughts.  It was quite touching.
I was thrilled to get this photo of him and I (even though Annie Kate had it on super zoom) since we did not get one the week before.
I guess his gray hair can't get any grayer, so I wonder how different we will look in 5 years.

What I loved about this Mother's Day was that it was the first time I didn't care about me.  I was thrilled to be Jeff's biggest fan and welcome some families in our home for dinner.

One of the young men came over after dinner and gave me a long stem red rose, to wish me Happy Mother's day.  Now if that does not melt your heart, I don't what does.

Where was this a week ago when I thought about buying and sending Mother's Day cards??? ( i bought some I just didn't send any)
You still have time to print this darling, darling, wonderful free printable from Make Merry.
I printed some on Watercolor paper and it almost looks like letter press!

Thanks Make Merry.  Happy Mother's Day to you.

I am really not sure how I am going keep my heart from talking on my blog.
This week has been like no other.
Our life feels different.
Things that used to bother me are as if they are gone.
My heart is mush.
Our home feels like peace in a box.
I have fallen in love with Jeff all over again.
I cry every day.
He is so tired.
Sally Jane asked me today if Dad is going to have to wear a suit everyday for the rest of his life.
We have felt the love of so many.
I wish I would have done more for my past Bishops.
I wish I would have reached out more to his kids and wife.
I know Heavenly Father loves us so much
I know Jeff has been prepared for this time
I know I don't want to do, watch, listen or say anything that would take away from this feeling in our home.
I am humbled.

"When the time to perform has come the time to prepare has past"

"My mom came home from BYU women's conference and all she brought me was a shirt with the letter Y on it.  Doesn't she know that is the last letter in my name not the first."

The girls survived another weekend with me at Women's Conference.  They will treasure that weekend with Jeff as they had him all to themselves.
Because the morning we got home started a new, wonderful journey for our family.

Jeff was called (when I saw called I mean asked of by our Heavenly Father) to be the new Bishop (when I say Bishop I mean local leader) of our ward (when I say ward, I mean congregation) here in our new area.
It was a very sweet and tender Sunday for our family.  I will say very little bit about this in the next 5 years on my blog and keep those thoughts in my journal.  But we have increased our belief in the fact that Heavenly Father knows us by our very name.  He will prepare his people for what he needs them to do.  We have a responsibility to give back for blessings we have received in our life.
The next day Jeff reminded us of what we already knew, his family comes first and jumping on the trampoline with his kids and kids from the ward will be at the top of his list!

Setting the tone for your Home

You may think I am talking about your home, home - but I am talking about your home page on the internet.
When someone walks in your home what is the first thing they see.
A family picture, a plant, flowers or do they see your dirty laundry, dirty dishes etc.
When you first turn on your internet, what is the first thing you see?

Here is a thought make it LDS.org.
LDS.org has a constant changing banner at the top and updating church news and calendar on the side bars. It will be different every time you open it.
Even if you are not LDS it is a great page that gives you inspiring thoughts, photos and videos to start your day.

To change your homepage open your internet browser. For display I am using Firefox.

Look to the top left of your screen and click on your web browser's name, until you see the word preferences come down below.

Click Preferences. You will see this box or one like it pop up on top of your screen.
in the line that lets you type in your own personal homepage type

http://lds.org/
then just close that window and it will save your selection on it's own.

close your internet browser and then see if it works.

This morning I caught Annie Kate in the computer room watching this video and the only reason was because it came up when she turned on the internet...
