priMary!

I have had the great opportunity to teach primary for the last 6 months. I have the greatest class! I teach the 6 and 7 year olds.
Every Sunday they do a spotlight for the kids. it is the best part of the day. All the kids stand up and then they read qualities about the spotlight child and if it doesn't apply to you than you sit down, with the concept of the last one standing being the spotlight. Well on the first Sunday of the month they do one of the teachers. Yesterday it was me. my class was so excited when they figured out it was me. They gave me this darling set of laminated cards shown above. They interviewed everyone in my class to find out things they liked about me. I know it is a little braggy to type these up but it makes me giggle and get emotional when I read them. It is amazing to me what stands out to these kids.

  • she taught me jesus was a boy just like me. i never heard stories about him when he was a kid just when he was a baby.
  • she helps us pray
  • she told her husband to smell my lipstick because it smelled good.
  • she talks about Jesus.. a lot!
  • the whole class likes her and she likes the whole class
  • she tells us special things about God.
  • i feel happy when i am near sister Cutler
  • she like to act out the lessons
  • she gave me a valentine
  • she says that we are her favorite class
  • she makes faces that are funny
I am going to miss my class so much. Any great ideas on something i can do for them when i move?

That is so sweet! How nice of them to do that for you. Primary children are wonderful. Maybe you could take a photo of you with each child, then give them each a card with the photo, a special message for them, and your testimony.

Kristi,
when I interviewed the kids, almost every child mentioned the quilt you use to play games with them on. That definately made a huge impression and they love it! The other one, I didn't read on your blog, but someone said, they love that you use a special bag just for your primary stuff. Who would have thought that would seem special, but to 6&7 year olds, having a bag dedicated just to them is really special! - Laura

I especially love the lipstick comment...I like Michelle's idea as well. I think that would be cool to them. Maybe send them all a card after you leave or something so they know how much they meant to you.

Okay how in the world are you changing your title and it is totally cute! You are asking us what to make...common Kristi your the expert in crafts. We used to do that same thing in our primary until we sorta became a branch. I miss having so many kids in ours. That is a cute little gift too

What a sweet list of things from your class, I'm so glad your primary presidency did that for you. I know I become very invested in my primary class and don't like the thought of not having a great relationship with each of them, you've obviously accomplished that.

I like Michelle's idea for the gift as well.

That's the coolest way to do spotlight, and I love that they spotlight the teachers too. I am so glad you shared that, not at all braggy!
