Graduation!
Today was it, it was our final graduation dinner at Vanderbilt University department of Otolaryngology. Jeff has completed his fellowship in Rhinology (i don't even know if i ever spell that right) The first photo is of him and Dr. James Netterville whom Jeff went to Africa with and has been such a blessing in our lives. the next photo is Jeff's best buddies and educators this year. Kathie, Dr. D and Paul Russell. They have treated Jeff with nothing but the utmost respect and have taken the time to teach him as well as love him. This year has been so wonderful for Jeff. I can't wait to post the gift they gave him, so incredible.
The last photo is of the chair that they give you when you finish your residency or fellowship. So now we have two matching ones for Jeff's office at Walter Reed.
It was a great night and they did a funny slide show of Jeff with some great photos that I sneaked their way a few months ago. It was so funny.
Kathie and Dr. D we love you and thank you for all that you have done for Jeff this year. (they are readers of my blog!) He is going to miss you two like crazy!
The one photo i had to take was Jeff putting the chair in the car. Our first year here I remember going to the graduation dinner thinking our day would never come. I remember watching the graduating resident's putting their chairs in their car dreaming of that day for us. So it was symbolic for me to see jeff do it. And what is funny, is I am a little sad it is our turn. It is harder to go than I ever imagined. Saying goodbye to everyone was really hard for me. Vanderbilt we will miss you!
Photos of the night.

Oh how I wish we would have been there to see it all. CONGRATULATIONS to you both. Jeff could not have done it without all of your love and support, Kristi. We love you!

Oh my goodness! Those growing up pictures where he is doing cute goofy things, don't they look so much like Annie Kate when she is doing cute goody things in pictures! I can really see her in Jeff's little boy face!

I thought of you guys on Saturday night at our Chief Dinner, what a long road, its such a team effort, we are so proud of you both. I remember getting to New Orleans and Dave, Alph and Doug sitting around Jeff at the Smith's house, Papa Jeff was telling them what books to buy, etc. What a great role model for them. Congrats and good luck! So proud!

Congrats on completing this forever goal. It seems like forever away, I cannot believe y'all are done.

How funny- they also give a captain's chair as a gift to the chiefs in Adam's program. The pictures are hilarious. Congrats.

Good luck with the move this next week.

Congratulations to Jeff! I can't believe you are finally done, it seemed so many years ago when you were working so hard to get into medical school. I know it has been a long road, and the two of you have done it together. You sound like you have had so much support along the way, and I wish you the best in your next endeavor to DC!!!! Love, Heather

What an awesome experience for you and Jeff. He is a wonderful man, and to know he was loved and appreciated by his friends and associates at Vanderbilt is just icing on the cake. Kristi, we are proud of you too for all the sacrifices and support that you you gave over these many years. We love you both.

What a fun tradition with the chairs, I love it. I bet you can hardly believe this day has finally come. I'm proud of you, too, because I'm sure it has been a long road for you and you have had to shoulder a lot of the burden with home and family while he was accomplishing this huge goal!
