Strength.
the above photo is my sister in law Debbie and her daughter Claire. I used to say "Debbie is one of the strongest people I know" then I met Claire. Claire is one years old and a year ago this week was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan aneima. She has spent more time in the hospital than most adults.
the above photo was taken by Lynette Johnson a professional photographer who has started a foundation called Soulumination. Lynette has done a couple of photo shoots of Claire and her family and they are some of the most wonderful photos that everyone in the family has enjoyed.
Soulumination celebrates the lives of children facing life threatening illnesses by providing professional photographs—free of charge—of these children and their families. The life-affirming photographs of Soulumination are the enduring, positive record of the child’s brief life.
Here is the Soulumination Website. Here is Lynette's blog
Scroll down to the bottom of my blog and you can see a new video that was made to educate families about her organization. You can click here to make a donation.
I have few friends who are photographers and thought they might find this interesting and an organization to become a part of as well.
What made me think of postings this was that today Annie Kate and her two girl friends had a lemonade stand from 8:30 to 4:30 to help raise money for Claire to buy some new special shoes. The were so excited at the end of the day with their earnings. Thank you Issabele and Gabrielle for spending your day thinking of Claire.

What a great photo, and that video was beautiful. The quotes at the bottom were so insipring. The one that talked about having grace during trials spoke to me.
That was a beautifully written post Kristi, I am so proud of AK to have the lemonade stand, it must be wonderful for Debbie, and for Claire to have a neice all the way across the country reaching out the only way she can to show her love and support for her cousin and aunt. We should all take a lesson from Annie Kate. Our thoughts are with Sweet Claire and her mom!
This is a great example of how we can use our talents to bless other people's lives. You are a great example of that principle, too.
Kristi, I saw all 3 of the pictures of Claire on Lynette Johnson's site. What a beautiful little girl, so healthy looking and happy. I would like to donate for Claire's shoes, too. I know how mufh special shoew are and are not covered by insurance. Can you send me Debbies' address? Or I could send it to you. Big full hearts grow in your family! You're all so great.
That picture is darling, and it's so sweet of Annie Kate and her friends to spend all day selling lemonade for Claire's shoes. The video is beautiful too.
I had never heard of this disease. It's amazing what we have to go through in this life.
I love it when kids really feel the love of service. It really makes you want to stop and buy at every lemonade stand -- there may be some special reason behind each one.
What gernerous spirits Annie and Issabele have. You are raising a kind and thoughtful girl, Kristi. My heart goes out to your family for their little girl. When Landry was 2 he had an acute case of ITP (a blood disorder in the hemophelia family)and we thank Heavenly Father each day that he continues to be well. There is a miniscule chance that he may ever have further problems but you can be sure that I study every bruise and bump. My Heaven's blessing be with Little Claire. Please keep us posted on ways we can help or support her treatment and care.
Beautiful pictures that is such a great idea. There is nothing as awesome as having your family and loved ones sharing memories
