We're in the Army!
Today we went to the PX and the commissary. It was kind of fun and because I love a good deal so it was exciting for me. Jeff bought his uniforms for work. Everyone keeps asking us if he wears them... he will uniforms to and from work and in the clinic but other times just wear scrubs.
The Px (like Walmart) was kind of lame, they say there is a better on in Virginia. The commissary (like the grocery store) was ok. There were some things that were so cheap! We spent $50 and I was amazed at how much we came out with. You don't pay tax which is nice.
Milk $1.40 a gallon
cereal is about $1.50 a box
detergent liquid 300 oz for $5.99
When we were in the store there was a young man about 25 years old with his wife. He had an gray army t-shirt on. He had a prosthetic leg and the left side of his upper body was paralyzed. The war has a different face here that is for sure!

So, I've been meaning to do a post about how much things cost. In Ithaca I could get a gallon of 1% milk for around $2. Fast forward to CT and it's a freaking $3.99 a gallon!!!! I am in shock! I'm so glad you can get milk cheap somewhere in this country!
Liz. can you believe how expensive things are in the east!
$1.40 a gallon! I can't believe that! Our is $2.99 when it is on sale but more often it is about $3.59. It's crazy. I remember going to the PX and the Commisary with my grandparents when we were growing up in CA. Funny how things are so varied throughout this little country we live in. Even just a few states apart.
The commisary sounds like a huge bonus to Jeff's job. That will really add up.
How strange that even though I knew about Jeff putting in his time for the Army now, I never really put it together in my mind, you know? I never thought about him wearing a uniform and there being a PX and a commisary... where is my mind? I love a good deal, and groceries is a great place to get a good deal, since it's something you have to buy all the time!
