the love of sewing.
. . . . . .

I love to sew but I honestly think my 7 year old loves it more than me. Since we moved here she has wanted to get the sewing machine out and make "something". So I finally caved and got it out the other day.
She made two mini soupies - soupies are what we call our snugglie blankets ( and she came up with the idea to call them "cup of soup" because they are small)
I was amazed at her being able to piece the fabrics and stitch on a straight line. She is right now designing a skirt to make.

... and you can be very proud to know that the perfectionist in me let her make lots of mistakes and not go back and fix them.

Way to go Annie Kate and Kristi!!! Learning from mistakes is valuable. My 7th or 8th grade Home Ec teacher made me take out a zipper on a skirt so many times that the fabric was distorted and I never would wear the skirt. I found out later that there was another way to put in a zipper that was much better. Annie is very cretive, so to encourage that is a very good thing.

That's so fantastic that Annie Kate is learning and loving to sew at such a young age. I wish I had learned when I was young too.

How fun! Lindsey has been bugging me to let her sew. I don't even know where my machine, is much less do I think I could even get it to work. You are a great mom!

Kristi, I thought those were your hands. She has very long fingers, and horray for her to be sewing.

It seems like just yesterday day when I was at your house and Annie Kate was so amazing sewing with a needle and thread at 2 years old. Needless to say, I am not shocked by her skill with a machine! :) Maybe she can teach me???

My mom had me sewing at an early age as well. I even entered a 4-H competition and won 1st prize. Unfortunately the saying "practice makes perfect" doesn't apply to me because while in a sewing class in high school, I started with a size 12 pattern and ended up with a size 6-8 dress. I'm pretty sure that was the last time I sat in front of a sewing machine!

I love minkie and I love pink & green. I love that you're teaching AK to sew and to find her own way. Awesome.
