"I've got the Golden Ticket..."

This morning at 4:30 am Jeff and AK got up, picked up Cameron and Ben and headed to the White House in 30 degree weather. They had hot chocolate, sleeping bags and a DVD player to watch the Polar Express. They waited in line until 8:00 am to be one of 2800 people to get tickets to welcome the holiday season with the first family on the White House lawn, for the lighting of the National Christmas Tree.
Annie Kate came home and said, "I get to see the President"

Once you get in line you get a lanyard with a number to show you were in line. They were number 425 at 5:00 am. They were able to get 4 tickets a person.

Here is Ben and Annie Kate all snuggly. I think they had so much fun.

Jeff said to warm up they raced across the street to the Washington Memorial to try to push it over. What a great morning and memories in the making. We can't wait for December 7th.

Holy cow--that sounds so cold. What a fun daddy/daughter experience. Taylor would love to do something like that. What a fun outing to look forward to.

Yay! I'm so excited for you to be able to experience that. I had tickets when I worked for Senator Bennett but didn't go because it was way too cold. Lame excuse. I can't wait to hear all about it!

That's awesome! I wouldn't have been keen on the 4:30am part of it, but I think that's a cool thing to do. I'll be looking forward to your review of the actual event.

Sounds fun and freezing! Mackenzi would love to do something like that even if she had to wake up "in the middle of the night" for it. Can't wait for the update on the actual experience.

So cute. I love that they did that together. I would definitely want to be at home in the cozy early on a cold morning!
