December Visiting Teaching

I added a visiting teaching sidebar to my blog today. I LOVE visiting teaching and this is a great month to do some fun stuff.
I delivered my advent calendars the night before the 1st for their kids to open that morning. This was something my visiting teacher in TN did for my kids and I will never forget how much it meant to me for her to do something for my kids.

I then sent off the VT message today and copied the Christmas CD that Melanie sent me, made a totally cheesy envelope with bright markers and sent it in the mail. Thanks Melanie for saving me this month with doing all the work!
If you have any other great ideas or VT links let me know!

A Christmas cd is a wonderful idea! I will have to do that next year! Kelly and I did a brunch for those that we vt. We had it at my home and had a great time - we gave them an advent calendar w/ chocolates, peppermint cookies and a book (well, it is like a pamphlet like 30 pages) A FATHER'S GREATEST GIFT from Deseret Book. If I was on top of things, I would have taken a photo of our tastey treats and the cute gift. It was nice to have everyone together for a moment.
What I need are great friend/neighbor gift ideas. I am always on the lookout for a new creative idea.

Price Cream Parlor and I are friends and also lucked out to be visiting teaching companions. On Tuesday we threw a little brunch for the three sisters we visit. We just had muffins, fruit, quiche and scones, and sat and visited all together. PCP had put together a cute little package to give each of them with an advent calendar, some candycane Jo Jo's from Trader Joe's, and one of those skinny Christmas stories from Deseret Book. We all had a fun time, and thought next year we might invite another visiting teaching group over to enjoy brunch with us. Definitely a fun tradition!

ha ha ha! I didn't see that Price Cream Parlor had posted above! Too funny! I guess you can tell that in our time zone it's lunch time/computer time.

I love the idea of giving my visiting teachees a Christmas cd, I wouldn't have thought of that even though I give them to friends all the time. Thanks for the tip!

I think a visiting teaching ideas sidebar link is a great idea too.

I did the same thing, I'm happy to do the work for you. We even took one to a lady we teach that is in her 80's. She has a cd player so we took the risk that she would know how to use it. Who knows.

Great idea for December too. It gets so busy we are going next week or we wont make it at all!

Great Idea... we send a Christmas CD with our Christmas cards with fun mixes...but I love the idea of a church one... was it only spiritual songs or was it fun songs too?

You always inspire me to do something beautiful for my people.
