Santa Jeff

Every year there seems to be something that makes Christmas special for our family. Last year the fact that all that Annie Kate wanted for Christmas was a dozen pink roses will go down in our memory and we will remember it being the year Jeff became Santa... in two different ways.

Last year Jeff was finishing his fellowship and had grown very close and to the staff he had worked with. It as an incredible year. He was finally able to work with the same people every day vs. moving from department to department each month. I had told him we really need to do something nice for all these wonderful people. He thought a large Hershey bar with a bow on it would be great. After trying to decided what we could do for 12 people and not spend a lot of money but do something really nice we came up with these.I had been able to purchase these large microfiber bags below wholesale. I monogrammed them tied polka dot ribbon an Jeff took them to work. He seriously caught the Christmas spirit. He would come home and say can you make two more, I would like to give some to.... Giving a personalized gift to someone is an awesome feeling, but giving it to someone who didn't even think would give you a gift makes it that much more fun. It was a highlight of our Christmas making so many of these bags and watching Jeff play Santa.

So this year when I asked him what we should do he said, "oh we don't have to do anything" I was shocked I had big plans to start early so we didn't have to burning the midnight oil. So I trusted him and let it go. This past week he came home saying, "I think I really should do something" The staff is large and he didn't know kind of where to start giving to and where to stop. So we came up with some fun, yet again personalized gifts.

We made some personalized card sets, boxed and of course tied with ribbon. The guys in his department got a little more standard gift. But he did give a huge bag of m&m's to one of the Sgt. Who has a bowl of M&M's and Jeff says he does his fair share of depleting his supply.Jeff once a again and came home with the Santa smile. I think he can get so busy that is takes a lot more effort to take time to do things little things. So when this time of year comes around he gets really caught up in the giving, especially for those who don't expect anything.

The other way that Jeff has become Santa is one of his attendings gave him a Santa suit. We used that thing like crazy last year. It as how we delivered our last piece of the Nativity to our secret family. Jeff walked up and down the streets at 9:00 pm ringing a bell for all the neighbor kids to see, they talked about it for days. We also made this video. I posted about it in March. It is so great! Annie Kate has talked about it all year and is planning a strategy for this year on how to catch him again.
I love the spirit of giving!!

I think getting totally unexpected gifts is so touching (that has happened to me a lot this year) so I can only imagine how wonderful it must be for Jeff's co-workers to get such awesome, personalized gifts from him.

I really must know where to get those boxes you put the stationery in. I love those.

What beautiful and thoughtful gifts! I think I need to do a better job in the gift giving department at my husband's office. I usually just let him take care of it, which can result in cash in an office letterhead envelope. He has some really great people working for him, and you've inspired me to put more effort into their gifts.

A dozen pink roses for Christmas! That is too sweet!

Kristi,
You always seem to provide me with inspiration just when I need it most. I have been feeling like Scrooge lately. With all of the issues with Rich's mom, there hasn't been time to put up a tree or decorations and it will be a miracle if I can get Christmas cards ready. But, reading about the gift-giving you and Jeff have done motivated me to make some personalized goodies for some very special people. I also finally managed to get some good mail packages ready to spread some holiday cheer! I didn't think it was possible this year, but I am finally in the the spirit. Thank you thank you thank you!!

Please give Jeff and the girls a big Ho Ho Ho for me! Have a wonderful Christmas!

Its funny how husbands jump in at the last minute. I think it takes Mark until he is off work before the Christmas Spirit hits him. We are outside putting up lights on our house this afternoon even thought I had been talking about it for WEEKS. Better late than never right? Those gifts sound so wonderful and thoughtful. You both are true examples of giving to others all the year through. We should know! :)

You are so good to make all of his personalized gifts for people, especially on short notice! I love the spirit of giving, too. It looks like you guys do a great job of giving gifts to everyone!
