Primary, Sick, Sleep and Sparklies.

Today was Caroline's first day in primary at church (ages 3 - 11). There are a wild bunch of 3 years olds in our church group. Caroline has been sporting a cut below her right eye all week which was a war wound from last Sunday.
I had thought to myself how could I get a photo of her on her first day without seeming obnoxious by bringing my camera to primary. Last night I got a phone call seeing if I would teach the class since they still have not found a teacher... I guess that is how.
She had a rough time in opening exercises and one of the dad's took her out to the hall and she fell right asleep on his shoulder (it was only 10:30am). He brought her into class and she slept there the whole time. I took a photo of each kid with a sign saying, "Today is my first day of primary..." along with the date. I will send each parent the photo this week. Since Caroline was asleep the whole time, her photo is appropriate.

I think the kids are a little sick along with Jeff. He did not look good this morning. He was teaching a lesson in Elders quorum about the life of Spencer W. Kimball, a past prophet of our church. He was going to call someone to see if they could teach it and then he came out of the room in his suit and tie. I said, "What are you doing?"
He explained a part of his lesson that he had read and how it motivated him to get up, get dressed and go to church.

These experiences (hard work) from early in Spencer’s life taught him the value of work, a lesson he applied and taught throughout his life. Years later as an Apostle in his 70s, he had occasional days when he felt physically exhausted. Of one such day he wrote: “I started out very miserable and found myself wondering if I could get through the day, but … I seemed to become intoxicated with my work and forgot myself and it was a good day.”

I am truly married to a man that does not complain even when he is sick. When he got back from Nigeria a few years back he brought a friend calmalariaeria with him and was still at work. It was not until I called someone in his department that he came home.I took this photo of Sally Jane sleeping today on my bed. She fell of the Goodwill horse Santa brought her and was exhausted from crying. Her soupie made it bettereter. I love this lime green trim on her blanket and how soft it has become.
and to end the day... While finishing Annie Kate's bookclub book (we have Jenn's girls book, Spiderwick-Field Guide) tonight she kept looking at me like 6 inches from my face while I was reading. It was kind of getting buggy!
I finally said, "What are you looking at?" with a little annoyed look and moving away from her
"You have so many sparlies on your face, I love looking at them"
I thought it was so sweet and such a cute thing to say.
I had just repurchased my new Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick (you can read my post from a year ago) It took me three years to go through it and I used it for blush and eyeshadow, worth every penny and gives AK sparklies to look at!

You're an amazingly clever documenter...the Sunbeam parents will love to have those pictures. I need to take more pictures like that. I was quite overwhelmed that my oldest had his first Primary week today also. Time moves far too quickly.

And I love the bit about the sparkles.

sounds like it was sunbeam day. I think several people posted about it. Including me. We had an amazing lesson today on SWK. I was amazed how much i didn't know about him.

I love that Caroline slept through her first day at primary. There are much worse things that could happen! Way to think of an idea to sneak in your camera...

you're really making me want to splurge on that Bobbi Brown item.

Love the countdown Tasha, since I'm west coast she is well into it now. Should I say Happy Birthday yet?...

I love the soupie picture with Sally Jane. I love when a blankie makes it all better!

I want Bobbi Brown now too, sparklies are a good thing, wrinkles are not.

I like the Bobbi Brown suggestion.

I had fun documenting my little Sunbeam today too. So fun.

The Sunbeam picture was the best idea! Poor sleepy Sunbeam. I had a new Sunbeam yesterday too.

I have always wanted to break away from the Walgreens make-up counter and think Bobbi Brown is the only way to go. I don't know why I have procrastinated the trip to Nordstrom since I think about it all the time and surf her website often. Thanks for the recommendation, I'm on my way. I want to "sparle!"

So many kids starting Primary from the blog world today! How cute that Caroline slept through practically the whole thing! Maybe the prospect of having to go to Primary was just too overwhelming! It's so fun that you took pictures of all the kids. The parents will be so happy to get them!

What a cool post. I think we tend to neglect the details of Sunday so it's fun to read about other people's experiences. How handy and cute that Caroline slept all through primary, had she had a rough night? I thought she was always full-steam ahead.

That's cool that Jeff was inspired by that quote about President Kimball. I taught a lesson about him (President Kimball, not Jeff) a few years ago and couldn't believe how much he suffered from terrible boils all over his body.
