hanging on the steps

Today me and the two little girls met Jeff and Annie Kate downtown after they hung out with the Young Men from church in the morning. We had a "healthy" lunch and Ben's Chili bowl. I am in total self portrait mode and can not stop taking photos of myself! Can't wait for Tuesday!

Then went across the street to the African American Civil War Museum. It is really only two rooms, but quite interesting and so good to spark some conversation with Annie Kate. The docent had a tour coming in so we had to cut it short, but glad we went in.
We had plans to go the Hirshorn Art Museum but were amazed how how many tour buses are here taking all of our parking spots! Tis the D.C. season. So we went to the Jefferson Memorial and just hung out!

As we walked up there was a high school band getting ready to perform on the steps! how lucky were we.
Annie Kate broke out the Heely's after a long winter break,
as Sally Jane sported her new pink shoes.
what is worse than keeping track of one soupie? keeping track of two. Sally Jane has two soupie's. We had brought them in the stroller to keep the kids warm (as they don't usually get to see the monuments) and Sally Jane just kept dragging them all around. They went home straight to the wash.

They played every great American song you can think of. Even Neil Diamonds, "America"
While playing a White House helicopter flew over us and had someone waving out the open window.

the girls just kept running along the steps, back and forth, back and forth.Sally Jane got tired.and then laid down on the steps.
the cherry blossoms are coming, I can't wait!
I love this photo of Jeff and Caroline at the top of the Jefferson Memorial over looking to the Washington Monument. Caroline has such passion towards the Washington Monument, she calls it the big top.

So, yet another great Saturday and what feels the best of the day, is that is documented to never be forgotten! (one of the few family photos, i need to be better at getting people to take our photos

My Phoebe Quinn carries around 2 blankets as well, and neeeeeds them both. I loved the photo of Sally Jane laying on the steps.

Wonderful family photo (cute Annie Kate face). It never occurs to me to ask people to take our photo all together, but I really should.

Looks like a great day. I can't wait to see your cherry blossom pictures when they bloom.

Looks like a great day! I hope the weather has been as fantastic there as it is here in Tennessee. The photos of Sally Jane are priceless. It looks like you have your new camera back.

Fabulous, fun, family photos! I enjoyed seeing those smiling faces!
I can't believe that I have never tried Ben's Chili Bowl. We are moving back to that area this summer and I am definately going to have to try it!

I especially love the photos of SJ carrying her soupies and getting tired. Eva has just one blanket that she carries everywhere. It always looks rather grey, and unfortunately it is knit and getting large holes in it. I have a terrible time getting it away from her to wash.

Glad you're taking photos of yourself!

What a day! The soupies picture is darling! Sometimes a girl just needs two blankets! Love all the photos, especially the one of all 5 of you. Your day looked like spring is just around the corner. Hooray!

Kristi, I was sorely disappointed in the choice of postcards I had here for Rebecca's postcard exchange. Really, I do wonder what 'postcard photographers' SEE when they look at places!

Your images of Washington are v.uplifting. You should send some to some kind of tourist office place-type-thing and offer them up as images for postcards!

The high school band one is FAB!

Oh, I love seeing your pics of D.C.! I don't remember if I told you this or not, but I lived in Damascus, MD (about 10 min. from Gaithersburg) when I was in middle school. I loved living there and loved going to D.C....especially when the cherry blossoms come out! So fun!

I also have to comment on your post of your thoughts...I too am so grateful for the music selections for exercising! I don't know what I did without out them. (And I am laughing trying to envision you dancing on an elyptical (sp?).

Oh, and I got my first piece of official "good mail" from non-other than you! Wa-hoo! It made my day! Thank you! I am now a firm believer and am going to see if I can order some lables from Jill ASAP!

How fun that you showed up and a highschool band was playing. They had the best uniforms! If I had a kid in that band I would pay for copies of those pictures! I especailly love the one shot between the rows of the band standing on the steps.

I love it that you're in self-portrait mode, that's a cool picture. I'm also pleased that you're getting better about having other people take pictures so you can get shots of your whole family.

Thanks for posting for me this weekend while my internet was down!

Love the pics of the kids! Alex has a blanket that she takes everywhere, but she calls it her gee-gee. Crazy kids. I have got to get myself to DC. Can't believe I have never been.
