80's alert

Honestly how did I miss this movie in the theatres? We netflixed this movie due to Bevan and Amanda's recommendation and I could not have been happier. Music and Lyrics
I was ready to pull out my parachute pants and swatch watch (yes i have worn both) while watching.
I do not go to movies because I am so incredibly picky about seeing half dressed, swearing, violent people on a big screen... and I am cheap. I become each movie I see, if one of the characters is getting yelled at then I am getting yelled at. If one of the characters is going to the prom with Freddie Prince Jr., then I am going to the prom with him too. My husband says, I can't just sit back and enjoy a movie. True. True. Which is another reason why I do see a lot of movies.
Anyway back to this movie. I loved it. The 80's music in the background. The Pop 80's video at the beginning. want to hear the song. I just loved the 80's. Drew Barrymore was great, she looked fantastic. If I had her email I would tell her so. I fell in love with her sunglasses she wore and googled them. for only $285 they could be mine... ya I don't think so.
Then the part I could not stop laughing. In case I ever forget how insanely crazy I recently acted at the John Cougar Mellancamp concert, I can watch this movie and remind myself. Kristen Johnston plays a mom who goes crazy when hearing music from her past and the scene of her going nuts at the hotel concert, was me at the recent concert. Only my blouse was not as low as hers.
I loved, loved this movie. I didn't want it to end. I watched every blooper and making of the movie and even watched the last 10 minutes twice.
Is there I chance I am not a movie hater? What else is out there that I am missing? Are there other movies this good? Could this rank higher than Pretty in Pink?
I could have done with out the half dressed teen pop star, but all and all it was so great!
Any other recommendations now that I am on a movie kick.

I loved this movie too! I loved the music and I loved how Hugh Grant makes fun of himself. I TOLD my kids to go see this one, and even my sons loved it. How fun is that!?

I am never comfortable recommending movies but speaking of Hugh Grant, 'About A Boy' is one of my all time favorite movies. I liked it better than the book which is odd for me.

This movie was my movie of choice at the cheap theatre tonight, but we ended up at a shoot 'em up movie my husband picked AGAIN! Now I really have to see Music and Lyrics to balance out the movie I agreed to see tonight.

I really enjoyed this one too. Jill and I went to see it on my birthday. Those videos from his band were hysterical!

Reading your blog was like a mirror of me! I watched it this weekend too and I loved it - I watched the end scene twice, as well as all the 'extras'. Then I watched it again with my husband and laughed through it again! A great movie!

I am glad you liked it so much, its alot of fun (P.S. to Elisa...About A Boy is one of our favourite's also...we even ordered the Soundtrack after seeing it!)
I have never seen something that I owned in a movie before...but a few weeks ago I was looking at a People magazine at the check out counter and saw a picture of Mat Lauer and his son who was carrying the EXACT same lunch box that Liam has, it was pretty exciting.

We watched this movie on Friday too and LOVED it!!! Way better than I expected. But then again, when does a movie with Hugh Grant set in the 80's disappoint?!

The 80's video at the beginning is so great. I love that it is not even a spoof. So like the real deal. That's what made it great. My husband and I both loved this movie.

This is the movie Michelle and I saw on her birthday back in March. I know I posted about it, but not nearly as thoroughly as you have done here. This movie made me hark back to the Awesome 80's as well and I loved that first hilarious video of them at the beginning. I'm glad you found something you could watch AND enjoy!

Lisa and I saw this in the theater a few months back. I liked it, too. That video at the beginning was so hilarious. I had that song stuck in my head for weeks.

Add to the list of what happens to you during movies: "If I watch a movie where people on the Titanic are drowning, and the main character looks like my brother, than I think my brother is drowning." :) Memories!

We just watched the movie last night. Didn't the first son "Pop goes my heart"! Just tag everything about the 80's. Such a great fun evening! I didn't know there were bloopers in it - I think I'll go check them out!

I loved this movie. My husband and I went with my parents one night. We laughed so hard. The 80's is a theme for us, glory days and all. I saw it on the plane flying to Utah last week. Even bought the head phones, I liked it so much.

My mother in law just bought this DVD for us. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet but with the positive reviews about it I'm looking forward to when I can. I love anything with Hugh Grant in it. You can check out my favorite movie list in my profile for some great movie ideas.

My sister in laws both have come home from college and play the music and lyrics sound track non-stop! I love Pop goes my heart. If I had a swatch I'd wear it and look at is as I dance around the house.
