Back in D.C.

I got back Friday night and can not stop kissing and squeezing my little girls. We went downtown today to run around the the tidal basin. It is a nice little 5 mile loop. Everything is so green and the weather is heavenly: light breeze and NO humidity.
Annie Kate got to use her new tennis shoes.

the Potomac was so high it was spilling all over the walking path
and we had to take to the high road

we stopped off at the Awakening and took some funny shots and Annie Kate slid down his leg.

Jeff usually does push ups in between miles on his runs by himself. When we had stopped by the water he did a few and I was glad i had my video camera with me to see Sally Jane get in on the fun.
We have lived her almost a year and I never get tired of seeing the monuments and running past them is just a beautiful site.

we saw some fire boats testing their water, they gave our waving girls a big honk on their horn

I felt totally justified in having lunch at Ben's Chili Bowl after doing a little exercise. We just love this place. As we were eating a lady came up to talk the girls. It was Mrs. Ben! she told us the story of opening her restaurant with her husband and how it survived the fire on U street and what the early days of the business was like. Annie Kate was giddy and felt like she was meeting someone so famous. We always ask the waiters what it takes to get your photo on the wall there. (it is one of those places that has all the famous people that have come with the owners on the wall, Bill Cosby, Bono, Hillary Clinton, Snoop etc...) So we asked Mrs. Ben and she said just bring a photo in, we will put it up. Do you even know how tempted I am to send her this photo in a frame. Do you like Sally Jane with her chocolate banana shake IV in?
It was fun to see the girls again

but just as fun to see how lucky they are to have such a great dad.

we had a great dinner at our friends home, with the diplomat from Argentina. It was so fun and relaxing., playing handball and a walk around the lake. Jeff served his mission in Argentina and so it was fun for him to talk to him. This summer the Argentine Embassy is doing an event for LDS missionaries who served their missions there. Oh that should be fun

*** my mom is home now and recovering from pneumonia and a heart attack. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers!***

Welcome home! I'm glad your mom is getting stronger, too.

Kristi that picture of Jeff's finger and Sally Jane's hand is the best. I just love it.

What a fun post.

It is good to know that you returned home safely. The past week had to have been so very stressful for you. I am glad that you were able to go spend time with your mom during this difficult time. How wonderful to come home to all of your favorite things!

Well you didn't waste any time getting back into life in D.C. did you? What would a Saturday be without a monument? You crack me up. The photos are beautiful, and I especially love the one of Sally Jane holding Jeff's pinkie.

I'm glad your mom is home and hope all goes well.

What wonderful pictures! I linked to this website on your blog. It really is a small world. This is a photographer that I was considering using to take some photos of our family. Is this a friend of yours? I also have someone else that takes amazing pictures. I am trying to mame up my mind up of who to use. I would totally appreciate any input youmight have. Thanks bunches! :)

What an amazing day! Thank you for sharing such beautiful pictures! How cool to meet Mrs. Ben from Ben's Chili Bowl! I know how much you are loving that place. How scary to go through all of that with your mother, but how lucky for her to have you there and glad to hear she is doing better. Enjoy that amazing, AMAZING city you live in and keep the pictures coming! I love them!

Glad to hear that your mother is recuperating. I know that is scary to have a parent get sick and not being close by. My Pop had a heart attack followed by quadrupple bypass surgery a few years ago while he lived in California and I was living in Maine and I was extremely pregnant and couldn't travel. Thank heavens for prayers and blessings.

BTW...love the picture holding the finger. That is absolutely beautiful.

WHAT? I didn't know about your mom! I'm so sorry to hear that, but glad she is on the road to recovery. Scary.

Does that place always have no humidity, or did you just have a lucky day? I can't stand the humidity. Love SJ doing her "push-ups"! Marc would never have been able to let Eva up on those rails, he gets so scared of the kids falling.

It looks like you are happy to be home (and I'm sure your girls are thrilled)! ...although the cereal trip might have made your time away less painful... :)

The picture of Sally Jane's cute little hand holding Jeff's finger is priceless...

Welcome home!

You have been in my thoughts all week! How wonderful you *could* go and spend time with your Mom. I hope she recovers quickly. I'm glad you are home safe and sound with your family!!

Wow, to Jeff's press-ups. I thought you'd speeded up the film a bit, but no - he's really that rapid? *gold star*

SJ looks hilarious. So sweet. I agree it was good to have a video camera available to catch a little moment like that.

You should covert the pic of J's hand to black & white. It'd look fantastic in a little, chic frame.

Send that picture into Mrs Ben! As Ben Stiller says in 'Starsky & Hutch': 'Do it. Do it.'
