trying to be cool like Anne.

One thing I do not enjoy doing is shopping and especially shopping for clothes. My dream would be to wear khaki skirt or pants and crisp white t-shirts every day.
The not enjoying shopping may make some people gasp and it may not make sense, so I will explain. What I do enjoy doing is hunting. Garage Sales, thrift stores, 90 % off at Target that is hunting not shopping.
Because I feel like I have no style as far as how I dress and I can't stand spending a lot of money on clothes. I enjoy quality. Something that will last - maybe forever. Things like that cost money. I don't like trends. I loved the 80's but wish I could have gone to high school in the 60's with those great clothes - Mary Jane's and cardigans. I am rambling.

On Monday night I had a total treat. I met a blogger. Anne. I have quite a fear of meeting any bloggers - a total insecurity of mine now exposed. I have always thought she had style on her blog but when I met her it was confirmed - she is hip - even down to the very cool shoes she was wearing. Anne is not only totally hip, but totally tall. She is very generous and gave me a bag full of goodies. She has the most soothing voice. I can't explain it but I thought it the first time I talked to her, you just want her to keep talking.
We did not take a photo (Jill will be disappointed in us for sure) we did some research at the library and went to dinner. I still am nervous she walked away thinking - "What a freak" but trust her when she said I wasn't.
So in honor of Anne and trying to be hip like her, I bought myself a new pair of shoes tonight. The fact that the were $12.00 from Payless and will fall apart in a month, is beside the point. At least next time I go to the Argentine Embassy i won't wear my white Birkenstocks.

Although I do love to shop, I can't say that I spend a lot of money on clothes or shoes for that matter. Most of my shoes come from Payless, because I just can't justify spending over $20. Call me crazy, but I think I would rather spend my money on going out to eat or getting a pedicure. How fun to meet Anne! I love her blog:)

Those are really cute shoes. I don't always have the same styles at Payless Canada.
I'm really curious about Anne's voice and I'm not surprised at all that she is cool in real life.
What were you researching at the library?

I am just the same as you described. I love the hunt and thrift store shopping. And I refuse to pay a lot for clothes.
How fun to meet Anne. You described her as I imagined.

How very fun to meet Anne! I love being around people with style since I am majorly lacking in that department! I am all about the hunt and the next great bargain. I wonder if I'll ever stop loving the hunt. I seriously doubt it.

Love the shoes!

I'm definitely bummed that you didn't take a picture of the two of you together, it's historically significant and you're both dedicated bloggers, what's up with that?

Hey, some of my favorite shoes are from Payless and sometimes they actually last years!

Those are totally hip shoes!
That is terrific that you and Anne got to meet. I hope that we will get to meet someday too. I would love to see our 6 girls all together - could be crazy!!
As a fellow khaki and white gal, I have to say, I think you are definately hip - in other ways!
I'm off to check out Anne's blog!
Hey - there are several of us in the DC area - we should do a blog party on the east coast!

Your new shoes will look great with your khaki's and crisp white shirts. Hope you have time to break them in before the big trip!

Wow Kristi! This post has about tripled the traffic to my blog. :)Thanks for all of your kind words. It was so great meeting you! You have nothing to fear when meeting bloggers, you're just as amazing in person as you appear on your blog. You're a great listener and you impart great advice. Thanks for letting me babble on and on and on. I needed that. I hope we get to do that again sometime soon!

Oh, cute shoes! I love the little ribbon. I should go check out Payless. I love cute shoes, but cheap cute shoes are even better!!

I hate hunting. I wish I got the deals and saved the money, but I hate spending hours from store to store looking through every item until I find something good.

Those shoes are super cute- I feel the same way about shopping. I am jealous you and Anne were able to meet- and sad you aren't making it to the party on the 28th!

Those are some very cute shoes! I can't believe you got them at Payless!

I kind of feel the same way about meeting bloggers. Will they still like me? Or do they already think I am a nutcase? :) Glad you had fun though!

Holy moly, those shoes are adorable! Who cares if they fall apart soon, at least you will be super-styling in the meantime! Jealous.

I'm sure you and Anne were both equally impressed with each other. I just can't imagine anyone meeting you in person and being disappointed, Kristi!

I was amazed that those shoes were so affordable, because they look really chic and expensive! These designer labels are a big con, aren't they?

I'm on the lookout for new shoes. I threw my most comfy ones in the bin last week because I trod in some poo. And it was so messy, I couldn't face cleaning them - so I binned them. *sob*

Glad your meet-up with Anne went well. You must wear your shoes to your next blogger meet-up!
