Setting up Camp
This weekend our whole family slept in a tent. (I didn't really sleep because I am such a nervous wreck that some animal was going to come and get us)We had a great time at our ward (church congregation) camp out.
Memorable moments
- the beautiful red barn we pitched our tents by
- Annie Kate finding a new buddy in the ward
- The kids getting to watch a projected movie on the side of the barn
- seeing 20 miniature ponies
- the young men trying to scare my little kids - but it not really working
- listening to the young men's conversation in their tents and Jeff saying "alright guys - goodnight!"
- sitting around the fire and having someone come up to us and asking Jeff if he has a brother named Scott - which he does. (the just moved from San Francisco and were in his brother's ward -small world)
- the excitement on the girls faces when we got in the car and they asked where were we going and we said, "Camping!"
- sweet little Sally Jane sleeping in a tent
- remembering how much camping Jeff and I used to do when we first got married

sounds like fun! we haven't been camping in about a year, but are currently gearing up for jack's first Tiger Cub family campout.
i LOVE outdoor movies projected onto buildings!
Brrr...I can't imagine camping here, it's so cold right now!
Too bad you were worried about animals getting you! I'd be exactly the same. But it sounds like a real success, and I wish you'd had your camera handy when you told the girls!
Good for you for taking your family camping. I am just not there yet. I have noooo desire. The last time we did it with kids it was a nightmare. I am glad you had so much fun.
I love camping and have such fun memories of ward campouts. Glad you had fun!
So that's where you were all weekend. What fun to take the girls camping in the tent. I bet they loved it, and could hardly wait to tell their friends. Love you guys.
ok if you want to climb rainier with all your girls I am going to need to see some weekly campouts. I will keep an eye out for some crampons that will fit sally jane.
Hey did you see the office last week? PB&J...Pam Beesley and Jim....
HAHA, oh good times.
So cute! How fun! Don't worry, he animals won't get you, we hope!

Oh so fun! We really need to do this. But our tent is too small for us (2 man for 5 people??).
What fun! Brian and I camped long ago...and he has taken the boys many times, but as a family? Maybe next summer when our youngest is nearly two! :)
Love that there was a movie projected onto a barn! So cool!
Oh and thank you! I was completely shocked to find Good Mail from you! You seriously made my day...thank you!
Sounds like fun. We have great memories of tent camping throughout the years. Glad that "the animals" did not get you! Love you..............
What a fun outing. I'm surprised you couldn't sleep for fear of animals. Was there any reason for these fears or were they just mom-issues? I think of you as a seasoned camper so I'm surprised you didn't sleep well.
My mom gave Randy and Landon a big tent for their birthdays this year, but it hasn't made it out of the box yet.
What a fun trip! I will never forget the story of you guys going camping and your bikes flying off the top of your car!
My favorite thing about camping is the dutch oven cooking!
It does sound like a lot of fun! It is so cold here, burr. I am thankful for the things you said were highlights.
I'm not a natural camper, but I have 3 boys so I'm pretty much going to have to get used to it. I'm glad you had some fun bonding time! Those are memories that your kids will cherish when they're older.
My husband loves to go camping, we usually try to take the kids and go at least once a year. Last year we went for Easter weekend. I live in Texas and it never snows here but last year it did Easter weekend. We were suppose to go camping again a few weeks later but I put the stop to it because Easter weekend was not fun because it was so cold. I wasn't ready for another adventure like that again. lol
Good for you for going camping! I too would have been afraid of the outdoor creatures! I have to admit, so far I am just not a camper.
So glad you had a fun time!
I resist camping every second before we get there and then I don't hate it as bad as I thought I would. It is so much more work with kids so big points for you taking the whole gang along. What great memories!
Wow! What a fun adventure. I am really not a camper, especially a tent camper. I can't imagine Eva sleeping a wink on a campout! Way to be the fun mom, again. Lucas asked if he could sleep out in the tent on the trampoline again this weekend, but it's waaaaay too cold here at night for camping now!
