Lake Summary.
Just had to get in a favorite moments of our weekend.

Sign reads:
In August 1918 and again in July 1921, Henry Ford, Thomas A. Edison, Harvey Firestone, John Burroughs and company encamped here by muddy creek falls.

Kind of a cool find on our hike. I learned something new, I did not know who John Burroughs was - someone please tell me I am not the only one.
We loved having a canoe with us this trip and one of the highlights was when Annie Kate took it on the lake herself and was fishing all alone. She even taught her self how to do the J stroke and paddled back into shore no problem. (of course it was the time I didn't bring my camera to the dock)
being away from the Internet, phone, t.v. (we watched plenty of movies) cooking all of our meals, not going out to eat, taking naps in the afternoon is just what we love about this trip. It was some definite sister power time that is for sure!
Sally Jane ALWAYS has something in her hands that she carries from day today. This trip she carried, a yellow spool of my embroidery thread, a yellow highlighter and fish bait that she called her "rainbow" because the power bait is striped like a rainbow and has sparklies. She slept with these items every night. Tonight she went to bed with a quarter and two mini puppies.
we made lots of bug boats for the mini bugs out of the tops of acorns that we found everywhere.
We gave up on life jackets for the kids. This was the smallest one for Sally Jane - we ended up taking it off.

we made the yummy Hobo Pies! these things are just awesome. We make ours with pie filling, bread and cinnamon and sugar. This would make a great gift for a camper. (you can google search pie irons and find some resources and recipes)
This was the fort the girls made by the fire pit.
some awesome mushrooms we saw on our hike.
Great trip, great times and just some good family regrouping time.

I am glad that you had a great time. I was feeling sorry for myself that I haven't read your blog since Sept. 28, don't know what happened there. I love your blog!

I love those pie irons!! Growing up we used them to make little pizzas (with sauce, cheese, and pepperoni in the bread) and then dessert (pie filling inside bread). So great!

What a fun trip! It is amazing what an eight year old can do by herself. Annie Kate is really growing up. The pictures are darling, and those girls are so cute. I could just squeeze that Sally Jane and her collections. So funny.
I noticed that Julia commented, and didn't mention that she just had her baby girl, Tatum! I wasn't sure you knew.

Oh, I'm totally jealous of your fun outdoor-sy trip. The hobo pies sound really fun. Being away from all the "wires" in life must've been so nice.
