Shhh! I have a secret.
So in honor of my little secret and my recent trip to the ribbon outlet (I just can not share the goodness with someone) I am giving away over 20 yards of some of the new ribbon I found this week. The best is the double sided satin ribbon - one side hot pink and the other lime green. And the pink and orange plaid is pretty cool too.
So to get a chance to win this yummy ribbon (I actually already have it boxed and up with return address and postage to be sent on Monday) leave a comment and tell me one of the below
and my lips are sealed
I can not believe I have been able to keep a secret this long, and I am going to keep it for just one more day. I have had this fun awesome project I have been working on almost all year. It is for sure "stretching" me. It makes me feel like a whole new person and I can't wait to write all about it tomorrow. So in honor of my little secret and my recent trip to the ribbon outlet (I just can not share the goodness with someone) I am giving away over 20 yards of some of the new ribbon I found this week. - the biggest secret you have ever kept (of course only tell this if the secret is no longer a secret)
- the longest time you have been able to keep a secret
- if you are a good secret keeper
- one person you know would keep any secret you have.
- or have you done something really creative to reveal a secret

Hey, I'm really interested to hear all about your amazing secret and this project that has really stretched you!
Ok here's my secret and it is no longer a secret since the secret is more than 5 years old now! :) When I was pregnant with Hailey, my entire family (minus a brother or two) came out for Thanksgiving. I planned on telling them that I was pregnant, but I couldn't come up with a good way to do it, and I wanted to see if they would be able to guess or not. So the entire time they were here, I managed to keep it a secret. When I finally told my mom it was a complete surprise for her, especially since she had just found out my sister was pregnant too (this was a surprise for me too). Anyway, I guess 3 months is a long time to keep a secret! :) I am pretty sure I could tell Ben anything and he would keep it a secret, the same with my mom.
P.S. I just love the picture of Sally Jane! She is such a little doll!
The first time I was asked to keep a secret was when I was 4 and I failed miserably in keeping the birthday present surprise details from a neighborhood birthday friend. My mum showed me the gift and the next time I saw the neighbor I walked right up to him and said "You are getting ...... for your birthday". My mum was so mad, she's never let me live it down. However, if asked to keep a secret - I will, I like to think I'm a bit more mature that when I was 4.
Oooh I love secrets!! I can't wait for your reveal! :)
My biggest secret was when I was pregnant with my youngest daughter. We suffered through a couple of miscarriages so we wanted to be "sure" before we told anyone. We went the 13 weeks and when it was time we sent special packages "special delivery" to all the grandparents and all the aunts and uncles announcing that we were pregnant.
I can keep a secret like no ones business. I often forget that I've even been told something until they share it or remind me. I file it and toss the key.
I guess I'm like a kid, I get excited when I know someones shared something with only me. :)
i. can't. keep. a. secret.
never have been able to!
I am an excellent secret keeper! Your secret is KILLING me! ;)
That pink and green ribbon is awesome!!
I can't wait for tomorrow! I keep secrets for forever, but I am so anxious to hear them!
So, my biggest secret I will share is still a secret, but I will share it because Linc doesn't read your blog...he thought he surprised me for our anniversary by whisking me away to Cancun and telling me at the airport. Just telling me to pack for hot weather. But...I knew weeks before when someone asked me if I was excited about Cancun who didn't know I didn't know etc. I couldn't bare to tell Linc- he loves to surprise. So, to this day, he still thinks it was a secret.
That was over 7 years now- which I would say makes me a pretty good secret keeper! There have been times I just want to tell him, but even now when we know someone is getting married he tells the guy to surprise the girl with a honeymoon because I was so shocked etc. So how can you ruin that?
My mom is the best secret keeper ever. She is a rock.
Something creative I have done to reveal? I mailed my mom a picture of my last pregnancy test with a "guess who?" on the bottom- she has three daughters. My sisters were out of town and I played dumb for two days. I'm mean, I know. But it was funny.
There seems to be a theme here with pregnancy secrets. That is probably the biggest secret I have kept as well. It was a hard secret for me to keep...especially from my Mom. I knew that I would see her in person when I was about 12 weeks along and thought it would be much better to tell her in person instead of over the phone. I almost slipped a couple of times, but when she picked us up from the airport, it was the first thing I told her. I just couldn't keep it in any longer! When she saw us, she said, "you made it!" my response was yup...all three of us! :)
I am great at keeping secrets, as long as I can tell my hubby! I just HAVE to tell someone!
He is also the one person who would always keep my secrets, or anyone elses.
That ribbon is beautiful!
Well, I think that revealing anything on the 13th is a wonderful thing! I can't wait to check back to see what secret you have been working on for...A YEAR? Are you kidding? And it stretched you? Ok - I am so dying to find out!
I am a great secret keeper. I have MANY! One secret that was fun and not hard to keep was the surprise party I threw my husband a year ago. It was so dang funny. Oh, I am a pretty good fibber as well! (sometimes keeping secrets go hand and hand with a little lie now and then....)
Loving the ribbon. Must you live by all the amazing places to visit?
....I am totally laughing at Lelly's comment! Too funny!
I can't keep a secret at all~
especially from my husband.
I really, really wish I could!
The best secret I have ever been involved with was this past summer my BF growing up & roomate in college- her husband invited all of her current friends to Seattle for her 40th surprise birthday. (we were coming from out of town.) He paid all our expenses & we surprised her with everyone else at lunch. She saw all of her friends when she came in the room - then saw us & busted into tears. It was such a great surprise! It's a good thing we only talk a couple of times a year-that was a great secret!
p.s.I am DYING to know what your secret is...!
Kristi, that picture of Sally Jane is so darling. I can't wait to hear what your secret is.
My husband doesn't think I'm a good secret keeper as I casually mention parts of it in conversations (he only notices IF he knows the secret as well).
The biggest secret I've ever kept was why we were selling our house in Reno after only being there less than a year. My husband didn't want word to get back to his work that we were leaving before he was ready to give his notice (we were going to grad. school). So, after our house sold I was able to tell my friends and it was such a relief!!
I love a good secret and can't wait to hear yours.
As for me - i am a fairly good secret keeper. I do tell my husband most things but beyond that I'm pretty tight lipped.
I can't think of any good secrets that I've kept lately. I did go to the doctor this week and kept the appointment from my husband until I went. It's hard for me to go to the doctor - phobia, and I didn't want a big deal made of it.
Oh, i have a kind of creative story. My brother and sister in law finally got pregnant after trying for a very long time. They had told me the news and said that I could tell our cousin, Betsy. I called her up, told her I had something important to tell her and asked if I could come over. Before I did so I stopped at the mall and picked up an Auntie Anne's pretzel. When I got to her house, I gave her the pretzel and she started to eat it. We chatted for a minute and then she asked me what the big surprise was, to which I responded, I already told you. It took her a minute to realize that Anne was becoming an Auntie again.
I was really impressed with myself for that one. I thought I was quite clever.
oh my goodness! i have been wondering what it is and I think i have a great guess!?!?!?
i am a great secret keeper. My BFF was almost 4 months pregnant b/f she told anyone, and I found out as soon as the stick turned! It was so difficult to keep good news to myself, especially since so many people knew they had been trying for so long!
I am sure it goes without saying but I LOVE THE ORANGE PLAID ribbon!
Too great.
Fun, fun ,fun on this post.
For Christmas a few years ago. I had this grand idea of buying my husband a kayak for Christmas. I had called LL Bean and had them put the kayak on hold the day before I was coming to pick it up. I was driving to Freeport to pick it up and they called my house about the same time and asked my husband if I still wanted the kayak. He had no idea how to respond. When I got to LL Bean, thy said nothing about the phone call and I proceeded to buy kayak and then drove to our friend's home. They had offered to hide the kayak there until Christmas morning.
When I got home, Steve had told me about his phone call fom the store.
I said, "I can't believe they called..." then I went on and came up with a story.
"When I got to the store, they had sold the kayak that had been on hold." I even teared up a little as I told him how disappointed I was that I couldn't give him the kayak he wanted so badly. And went on to complain about the inconvenience of driving all the way out there just to come back empty handed.
Then on Christmas Eve night our friends brought the kayak over to our home after midnight and left it outside oour livingroom window. After we had opened all our gifts, he looked out the window and saw the kayak. He was floored and said he was shocked that I was such a good liar and could keep the secret for so long.

OK, I hope you're posting early tomorrow because I'm sure I'll be checking in first thing. I can't stand not being "in the know" when it comes to secrets. And I'm an expert at prying them out of people. EXCEPT my husband, who happens to be the BEST secret keeper ever. But I love that I can completely say anything around him, knowing fully that nothing will be repeated. There's a comfort level in that safety for sure!
I am a terrible secret keeper most of the time. Things just have a way of slipping out. My mom and my husband are the absolute best secret keepers. I never go to long with a secret of my own. I usually just get too excited and can't keep it in!
I know the secret, na na na na na, woohoo and la la.
I'm very good at keeping secrets, but can't think of anything major right now, most likely because I'm still keeping the secret. Ha.
I can't wait to hear what you've been up to! I used to not be so great about keeping secrets, but now I'm one of the best secret-keepers ever!
I can keep a secret a long, long time. Years, even.
Have fun!
Secrets....there is this part of me that feels like I keep a secret every day of my life. I feel like every day with my husband is this great and undying secret that only the two of us get. I surprise him and he suprises me and we know things about each other that we would never tell anyone else.
Anyway...enough of the sappiness. I love secrets but am not good at keep secrets about gifts. I get so excited in the "giving" that I just can't stand it....EXCEPT for once. My husband had been wanting a four wheeler for some time and though we had the money I kept telling him that we didn't need it and that it was a lot of money to spend (an easy but relentless guilt trip). While I told him I didn't think we should get one at the time, I quizzed about what he wanted, brand, color, etc... He was working out of town at the time and when he left, I went and bought it. When he got home, I told him I thought there was a gas leak in the garage because it smelled a little like gas and could he go check it out. He went out to find his bright red, brand new four wheeler and LOVED it. I loved surprising him with it. Especially because he had no idea.
Ok...your turn! Can't wait to hear. Love the ribbon and am beginning to think you have me started on a little fettish.
Can't wait to hear all about your big secret!!!
I am not great a whole lot of things, but I do think I am great at keeping secrets. Tasha and Melissa are folks I know who would keep any secret of mine. My darling husband would too.
I also had a pregnancy "secret." When we were first year med students in NOLA, I kept the secret from my husband! Just for five days, but still, a pretty long time when you are dying to tell. I waited so that he could be done with his first round of tests and we could celebrate like crazy.
We had been trying for a little while, so to throw him off, I kept a box of tampons out and put wrappers in the trash can ....
On the day I was finally going to tell, I lined the steps leading to our apartment with baby food jars. When he waked inside, I had my son all decked out in a "I'm Going To Be a Big Brother" t-shirt. Oh, it was so fun. Such a happy day.
With another pregnancy in New Orleans,I kept quiet again just so I could really surprise my husband. I made a King Cake and made sure my husband got the slice with the baby in it. Then I told him about the REAL BABY that was coming our way!
I can't wait to hear about your project. I am trying to decide on a which project to do now...oh the possibilities! Plus, that ribbon looks amazing!
I am a great secret keeper. (This is not a self-given title.) Once you tell me a secret, it stays with me. I know this because many close to me, tell me their secrets and of course keep it. I honestly have had so many secrets told to me that I sometimes a friend will come and ask, "Remember that secret or thing I told you about?" And I will think first, "........" and maybe there is even an intermittent cricket chirp because I am searching my brain for their particular secret. Then I realize it and we can move on in the conversation. :)
I don't share this to brag, but it is the truth. I learned the harsh reality of what happens when you spill someone's secret when I was 14. I still feel guilty to this day about it and that is why I am the amazing secret keeper you see today.
Oh My Goodness!! A secret for a year!! That is fantastic!!!
I consider myself a secret keeper. Whatever anyone tells me I will take it to my grave!!
At this moment my friends and I are having a surprise birthday party for a friend and she has no idea!! In fact she is so bummed that nobody is doing anything for her big 30th! It is cracking all of us up!! She even called to see if my Katherine could babysit so she and her husband could go out to eat for "Her Birthday" I told her we all ready had plans. :-)
I love ribbon!!! Oh my gosh!! I hope I win!!!
Oh, check out my blog to see what we left for or "Booing" We had such fun leaving these at friends doors!
Fun fun fun...you have to read my most recent post about my ribbon obsession (and how I spent about $80 at Big Lots on ribbon). Hopefully by now you got your little surprise in the mail from me?
Anyway, I'd still love to win ribbon. Here are my details:
the biggest secret you have ever kept- I threw a 30th surprise party for my DH & a 50th for both my parents about 3 weeks apart. They each knew about the other but had no idea I was single handedly pulling off 2 at once!!!
the longest time you have been able to keep a secret- about 3 months I think...
if you are a good secret keeper- didn't use to be, getting better (after those 2 parties I got better). By nature I'm a terrible liar. So it's tough for me to keep a secret.
one person you know would keep any secret you have- any of my bfs- Chrissy, Taryn or Kristen. And Josh (my dh) if he knew how important it was.
Secrets can be both hard and easy. I too have had the pregnancy secrets. Those are fun to tell.
But, I kept a secret once from my sister in law. Her fiance was wanting to propose. He was in NC and we were all in UT. Lacey, my SIL, needed her ring sized so I convinced her to take it and get it done on a specific day. They told her it would be about 2 weeks. (They were in kahoots with me and the fiance) She was bummed but needed it done. Already her boyfriend had scheduled to fly out, pick up the ring, and propose. So, the day my husband graduated from BYU we were all together and dressed up. The BF was at our apartment and Lacey was with me and my husband in the car. I told her that we were going out for dinner but I needed her to run in at my apartment and grab a surprise I had hidden for my husband. I told her that she needed an excuse to stop by the house so he wouldn't know something was up. She was "in" on the secret, or at least she thought. When she opened the door to our apartment, her beau was there on his knee (with her ring!) surrounded by candles. We all hid outside the door with flowers. It was great!!
I too can't wait to hear about your secret!
I love secrets (the good kind)! When I was pregnant with my first baby I desperately wanted to know if we were having a boy or a girl. My husband wanted to it to be a surprise. Well I went on a weekend trip with my sister. While we were gone she went with me to have a sonogram in July of 00. She and I successfully kept the baby's sex a secret until I gave birth in Oct to a beautiful girl! Now she is pregnant after trying for 15 years and I get to return the favor!
I've kept a secret for 25 years! :)
I am horrible at keeping secrets- but I love getting people to tell me thiers! I can always get my mom to tell me what she is getting everyone for Christmas! I am always the only one who knows and then I pretend I don't know and I act surprised as everyone else.
my secret was that I was pregnant with my 4th baby... I was 4 1/2 months before my husband started to tell people...I got realy mad at him...I am a good one to tell secrets to because I tend to forget a lot of things...
Ribbon - what fun. I must comment! Um, secrets - I am a good secret keeper. I generally do not reveal secrets, until I'm sure that it's not a big deal, nor secret anymore. Well, I must clarify. I'm a good secret keeper as long as I can tell my spouse. Other than that...my lips are sealed (I have to tell SOMEONE, come on!)
I think I'm a pretty good secret keeper but my husband is even better. When pregnant with my first, I didn't want to know the sex but he did. We agreed that if he would keep it secret from EVERYONE and not tease me about it, then he could find out. I didn't think he would be able to do it but he did! He made it 21 weeks without letting the secret slip just so I could be surprised at the birth! BTW, it was a boy!
I am a great secret keeper :o) Because I hate when others tell when they PROMMMMMMMMMMiSSSSED not to.. that makes me really mad!
can not wait to hear!!
I just ran across you blog. I have 3 girls and we are all about pink. I hope I win. I like you blog!! Have a great day!
OK, Besides the usual pregnancy and surprise party ones, It's funny that my 2 FAVORITE secret moments have involved animals.
One, we kept someone's puppy for them the week before Christmas so their son wouldn't find out.
Two, we asked our neighbor to keep an anquarium for us for a few days and feed the fish before we gave it to our daughter for her birthday.
I love the sneeky feeling you get when you're keeping a secret!
Whoops when I type fast I always forget to put the "r" in your...I am really not a ding bat!!
First, I think I may have figured out what your secret is but I don't want to steal your thunder if I'm right. I can't wait to find out. I am a very good secret keeper but my husband is not. Every year he tries to surprise me with something for Christmas. Without fail, every year I have either stumbled onto a receipt or just figured out what he has bought, but I have acted surprised every year and he fancies himself as a very good secret keeper and very good at surprises.
I am a great secret-keeper for other peoples' secrets, but miserable for my own. I hate secrets...I always just want to know! The biggest secret I have kept is the sex of our baby that I'm carrying. My husband & 5-year-old thought it would be fun to keep it a secret - and so far mumstheword. I have been very impressed that my 5-year-old hasn't slipped and he plays with people, saying things like, "She's a boy" or "He's a girl"! What a tease!
I am not a secret keeper, but it is not because I am loose lipped. I just don't have anything to keep secret.
The closest I have come is waiting to tell that I was pregnant, but the last time I tried to keep that under wraps, my two year old let it out of the bag.
I am very, very curious about your secret project!
I am a good secret keeper, but mostly because I forget lots of stuff!
I have a group of friends, fellow military wives that I would trust with any secret!
Missy
oh, and it is no big secret that I love ribbon!! We must meet and go to the ribbon outlet together sometime!
:)
ok i'm a pretty good secret keeper but I usually have to give a few hints if it's a gift or something. I can't think of a really good secret that I've had in my life. Ok~i fess up~i'm horrible at keeping secrets i usually spill the beans! lol
Can't wait to see what you've come up with & I think that ribbon outlet needs a visit from me! haha
I'm a horrible secret keeper...of my own. I can keep others though...
Love the ribbon and am excited to check back tomorrow to see YOUR secret. You're adorable.
i'm excited for your secret "reveal"! :)
i guess i'm a good "secret keeper"- in a sense, that's what i do every day in therapy- listen to what people don't tell anyone else...and then i don't tell anyone else (except my supervisor for now since i'm still training). i've never thought of it that way before...but AA has a saying that you're only as sick as your darkest secret...and i do think confession of whatever sort is helpful to others.
that was a way deeper post than i intended- on a lighter note, my little boy is FANTASTIC at secrets, but he teases mercilessly and gives 3 year old hints. For example, last Christmas he kept telling me I was getting a "red puppy" which actually ended up being a "red iPod" but i never knew. :) he and sally jane should hang out. :)
My biggest secret was probably not telling when I was pregnant. i know a lot of people keep that secret, so it's not really that juicy.
I'm an excellent secret keeper.
A couple of years ago my husband's (very nice) watch was stolen when someone at the gym took bolt cutters to the lock. It was so sad...the watch had been a graduation gift from his parents. I couldn't replace it completely, but he was so surprised to get a new Harley-Davidson watch for Christmas. (I must say, I picked out a great watch:) It was fun to see his face Christmas morning...he had no idea!! :):)
I totally know the secret and I am so excited for you!!! Hurray!
I kept a huge secret from my husband. We attended a wonderful dinner event . . .and it was my job to get him there to receive an award. He just about choked on his chocolate cake when they announced his name. I was SO glad I didn't spill the beans. I was so tempted to tell him. The look on his face was worth my agony because I am a LOUSY secret keeper.
Anjanette
Secrets!! Who doesn't love a secret. Depending on the secret I can either be good or bad at keeping them.
I have kept a secret- 11 years ago when my husband proposed to me. I had to keep it a secret since he hadn't talked to either of my parents about it first. Since my parents are divorced and I lived with my mom at the time, he wasn't sure who to talk too. So he said he wanted me on board first- by saying yes and then asked whom to speak too. So for 3 days I had to keep this big secret! Of course I couldn't- I had a diamond ring and all!!! That day I immediately went to see my friend at work and told her. The next day I did tell my sister- since we tell each other everything. I even got in trouble at work for kissing Brandon too much when he came to visit and a customer complained, but I had this HUGE secret that I just couldn't tell just yet.
Also- our family is big at doing suprises for pregnancies. So when I was pregnant with my first I took a picture of my husband, mine, and our dogs feet all in pink and blue socks and put it on a card that said "We are expanding our house by 2 feet!" And mailed them out. No one caught on too quick- they all thought it was the dog having babies. They must of forgot we had a boy dog who was fixed!!!
When I got pregnant the 2nd time- which was a surprise for us too, we mailed out pink and blue plastic easter eggs- since it was April at the time filled with candy and a little poem that read- "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Guess who's having baby #2??"
I love surprises! Can't wait to hear all about yours, it sounds really exciting!
I am TERRIBLE at secrets. But my sister is the BEST. You can tell her ANYTHING in confidence.
you are just too cute!
i have to say i'm a really good secret keeper...actually i feel like a lot of people "confess" things to me for some reason...i guess they know i'm good for their trust.
fabulous ribbon!
I am the worst at secrets unless my friend tells me to keep it. I am good at that.
I can't even buy Doug a present without telling him or having him open it before his birthday. I get too giddy and excited.
I guess I suck at secrets.
Oh, wait I take that back I have actually kept a secret for 12 years of my marriage. Only Doug knows. I think that is pretty darn good :) Oh, and it wouldn't be a secret anymore if I revealed it.
How exciting, I can't wait to hear!
My husband Kalani would be my secret keeper. I love that I can trust him with anything and he stays so loyal.
I can't wait to hear what this is all about. I hate to say that I'm not the best secret keeper. I wish I was, but I'm not. My sister Candice is the one I'd tell something to if i wanted it kept secret because she keeps her lips sealed!
Hey Kristi, I am a friend of Chanel's. I have been a quiet observer of your blog for a long time and I have learned so much from reading it. I don't have anything amazing to add about my secret keeping (I can & do keep secrets) but I am hoping that your great secret is that you have been sought after by a major network or publishing house to disseminate your awesome ideas for the rest of the world. You are charismatic and have a great heart.
Yes, I am a good secret keeper. My family calls me "the vault" because they know if someone has told me a secret they just won't be able to get it out of me. Your secret has been safe...... Much love to you.
Kristi!
It is Saturday and you said yesterday you would keep your secret for one more day - so it is today, right? You can't keep us hanging much longer!!!
:)
I'm with missy~it's time to spill the beans! haha
I'm bad at keeping secrets...when I was 2, my mom made some robes for my cousins for Christmas and everytime I saw them, I said "Your arbs in my bemmer." That meant that there robes were in my bedroom. Thankfully, they never understood me and it ended up being a surprise anyway! I'm excited to hear your secret!
I guess I can say that I can keep a secret only after I tell my hubby. He never tells anything. I am too fickle. Usually, though if I tell him, I don't tell any one else. I can't wait to see the secret! I am like a little kid! I like surprises to be a surprise! The suspense kills me though!
First of all, those pictures of you and SJ are the cutest thing in the world!! Love them.
I think I am a great secret-keeper. I have kept secrets for years and years (which, of course, I cannot reveal). Marc used to be the worst -- he would want to tell me what he got me for Christmas or my birthday -- but I love to be surprised, and I love to wait. Now he gets it and he is able to surprise me.
Your secret was a fabulous one for sure!
