Get your goat on!
and win something already

Finally I am getting my give-a-ways going again for this year. There are some exciting ones coming up, so all you have to do to enter is make a comment and guess what that is free! You risk nothing to try to win.

This give-away is kind of exciting because it is full of goodies. BackCountry.com is giving away a pink Nalgene water bottle, a Pink logo t-shirt like the one shown in black and a $25 gift certificate to spend on their online gear store and tons of pink Goat stickers. Backcountry.com has everything you need from warm jackets, shoes, and whatever else your little outdoor heart desires. The online store offers free shipping on orders over $50.

Other sites backcountry.com runs include Steepandcheap.com, Tramdock.com, and Dogfunk.com. Each site caters to a different outdoor crowd and Steepandcheap offers one deal at a time for a super deep discount. (Steepandcheap is awesome!)
just some of the items you can find on Backcountry.com

Do you have some new fitness goals for the year but don't have the money to but the gear? If you win you will. But what if you don't win but still want to buy gear, well - Backcountry.com is so nice that they are giving everyone the chance to save money for the next two weeks, - oh they are so generous (THANKYOUTHANKYOU!)

In the mean time enjoy 15% off through this discount code: 1WP-B-QYHD3, it won't work on all the items but it should help out with some New Year items for yourself and others. Brands it WON'T work on include: North Face, Western Mountaineering, Burton, and Oakley...sorry but some of the brands don't allow discounts.
How to enter.
{Leave a comment with one of your fitness goals for the year.
It does not have to be over the top, it can be get out of bed everyday.}

Last year when I wrote on my birthday 100 list one of them was that I wanted to run a marathon someday - it seemed to give me some accountability to my dream. There was something about writing it down that got my mind thinking I could actually do it and I did. So use this contest as a way to write down one fitness goal you have for the new year. Email your friends and tell them they could win too! Or at least email them the discount code if you are afraid of hurting your chances of winning!

even though I am not in the running to win, my goal is to do the Baltimore Marathon again, which right now seems almost as impossible as it did last January, but I am a positive thinker, and the free t-shirt they gave me is too good to pass up again.

thanks for all the pink gear for the winner and encouraging us to
get our goat on!

winner will be picked on Friday so hurry and share a fitness goal with the world!!

I want to run a marathon this year! I've never considered myself a "runner" but I've always secretly wanted to do one. So this is the year! (By the way, reading your marathon story was a BIG inspiration for me!! In fact, I'm going to order the books you recommended.)

I decided that I want to start running while I don't think I will be able to run a full marathon, I am running the half marathon at the Salt Lake Marathon on April 19. I have already started training. Good thing too because its only a few months away.

i am planning on getting over this injury and running another marathon this year- which could get tricky since i'm hoping we'll be pregnant sometime in the fall. :) if that doesn't pan out, then i'm good with a couple halfs or riding a century. :)

My fitness goal is to stop drinking so much soda and replace it with water.....I love your blog and love reading about your Sundays...they make me look at my ward in a different way. more on how I can serve the brothers and sisters. I would love to hear more about sacrament meetings.

I'm planning on doing my first triathlon and continuing to do local races for fun. My husband are also going to do the rim to rim hike at the Grand Canyon. Can't wait for that one!

I'm going to ride 100 miles in the Little Red Riding Hood ride on June 7 in northern Utah. The furthest I've ever ridden is 25 miles. It's scary to put that out there but so be it, I'll do it!

My husband loves backcountry! I know this sounds silly to people but with my health right now my goal is to walk up and down one flight of stairs everyday.

I need to get some of those water bottles for the kids to take to school. How fun to have all these giveaways.
My fitness goal this year is to have a baby and to eat really well after words to have the strength to care for my three littles.

What a great giveaway! Hope your feeling better!

One of my goals this year is to drink more water. I know..kind of lame. But I drink Diet Dr. Pepper and just need to cut way back. I don't think I can go cold turkey like you did with your diet coke. So I am going to start with drinking more H2O!!

My fitness goal is to follow my race training programs to a "T," which means I will no longer treat cross-training days as rest days. I'm hoping that by doing this I will be a stronger runner and less injury-prone.

I subscribe to Steepandcheap's daily emails, the stories that are included in each email crack me up!

My personal goal is to lose weight before my little brother (Mark) gets home from Brazil..7 months. My goal for my family is to do more active things together. We are like the "Pansie city cousins" next to my brother and sister's kids back home. I want to do more swimming, ice skating, climbing, sledding, and Miriam is getting a bike for her birthday in Feb.

I want to put 500 miles on my bike this summer. No easy feat when you're riding into the Idaho wind with two kiddos in tow.

One of my goals is to prepare healthier meals for the family! We rarely eat fast food, but sometimes when I cook, I feel it's not the healthiest!

I want to make fitness more of a lifestyle. I've been working on this for the last couple of months (playing sports outside with my young sons, actually getting out and playing with them in the snow, and every chance I get, going for a power walk/run, etc.), and now, putting a little more thought into it and writing it down here, I feel like it's more of a goal- and hopefully I'll have even more determination to do this.

I don't think you'll ever catch me running in a marathon, but I would like to get back to the gym again this year. If anything just getting some kind of exercise would be great! Plus, I want my kids to see how important it is to be healthy and to exercise.

I'm so inspired by your journey to the marathon last year. I have been carrying around lots of extra weight since I had my last baby 5 years ago. It has always worried me because both of my parents have adult onset diabetes, as well as a host of other health issues. I want to have a healthy body, and every year I start out with the goals. And every year by March or so, I give up. But not this year! This year, I'm starting out slow, working on eating habits, and doing some kind of exercise every day. My goal this year is to by healthy, to eat better, and be active. I'm actually really excited this year! It's my Year!

Mandy said...

I really am planning on sticking to my fitness goals this year. I am trying to get on my eliptical or go for a long speed walk every day. It's too icy to run!

Rass said...

No more pop. Very simple and very effective - I hope!

Fitness Goals seem so ongoing and everchanging. Mine this year is WATER, WATER, WATER and a few (2-3) 5K races here locally. I also want to encourage exercise with my little guys..ages 4 and 6 I want to be inventive when it comes to that and involve them in fun fitness we can do together as a family. I want them to know it is important to me by the example the see me set.

Holly said...

Can I say that I am drooling over all the pink possibilities? Oh my!

My fitness goals are to incorporate more cross training and strength training into my routine AND to run at least one(hopefully more!) half marathon in another state in 2008. Montitoring the sweet parade marching in to my mouth wouldn't be a bad thing either!

We love Backcountry.com in our house. Steep and cheep is so cool! But the coolest part (for me) is that they now own the first company Jeremy started, Geartrade. Jer still keeps in touch with the founder of Backcountry. We knew them when, I guess you could say. They started in a little garage warehouse in Heber and now they're huge!

So, to play along, my fitness goal for the year is to get myself into shape by using my incline trainer in our workout room and figure out why I experience so much pain when I run--is it my shoes, my out of shape body, or something else, like misaligned hips?

Jennifer said...

Baby weight needs to come off! I have finally stopped nursing so I am super motivated to change my eating habits and increase my activity. My plan is to double my current walking program and ad two days of weights each week. Thanks for making me put it in writing!

My goal for this year is to make good use of the very expensive jogging stroller that we bought last year! I missed running while I was pregnant and Isaac was too little for the jogger until just recently. But now it is time to get back out there!

Last year I wanted to exercise at least 2 days of the week. Well, I keep leaning back on my doctor telling me I have four kids, I already exercise! So, I am committed to do the treadmill Tuesday and Thursdays and then Saturday mornings taking one of the kids with me on their bikes so I can run at the park. I'm excited . . and the kids are too for their turn at the park!

Thanks!!!

My fitness/health goals are:
1) RUN in the Race for the Cure vs WALK on January 19 in West Palm Beach
2) Lose 20 pounds before June ( my son's wedding)
3) Not eat after 7pm unless I am out to dinner.
I entered the 90 Day Change Your Body Challenge at my gym. Three days in and I am doing and feeling great.

Kristen said...

With a new baby coming the first of April I will definitely be ready to get back into shape (although it usually takes me a year...I'm "hoping" that this time around I can loose the baby weight a little quicker.
My plan is to continue walking 3-5 days a week and really try to cut back on snacking and my goal is to eat more healthy:)

My goal is to be more flexible. I also accomplished my goal of running a marathon this year and was feeling pretty proud of how fit I was. Then I tried to do a few stretches from my old gymnastics days and just about hurt myself. I couldn't do the splits, now if my life depended on it. I'm not out to show off my ability to do the splits or anything, but part of being in shape is being flexible, so that is my fitness goal this year.

First goal is to comment more on the blogs I love -starting today!

Don't know if it is a fitness goal or not, but I am committing myself and my children to eating the right amounts of fruits and veggies a day (go to mypyramid.gov if you aren't sure) and keeping to track to be accountable. Hopefully we can all see the results of that!

Also, I am going to try to use my heart rate monitor more effectively. I just got a new one and I am sure I could be training much more efficiently (if I read the manual!!!)

As a 34 year old mom of 4, my body has taken a bit of a beating.

I want to be healthy. I want to transform this baby makin' machine into a strong, alive body and along with that, spirit.

I have always admired those who I saw out there pounding the pavement. I wanted to be like them. I was envious of them.

After you ran your marathon Kristi, I knew that I, a non-runner, could attempt to do it too.

I started the training last year and I am still out there pounding the pavement one step at a time.

I may not be able to run a full marathon, like I had hoped(my knees are NOT cooperating) but I will run a half if I have to scrape this lug of a carcass across the finish line. :)

Amanda said...

This year our goal is to continue our backpacking spree, this time to Death Valley during the spring. We will be thinking of you!

I don't want to just lose weight, I want to eat healthy and be fit, not just skinny.

J* said...

Skinny jeans. That's my fitness goal for the year. Just kidding. The point of all my fitness goals: to feel full of life and energy for myself, my husband and with my kids. To not have to feel unable or inhibited because I'm not healthy enough is huge. We live in outdoor wonderland and take advantage of it everyday! Is it too much to ask to look good while doing it?
p.s. Thanks for another great site!

To lose 40 lbs not baby weight but fertility, failed adoption, adoption, moving, and dx ds with FAS (wow I wrote it and said it for the world to read) in a healhty way (not all in one month or year) and lose it by trying and make time for myself by doing some sort of excerise a day and eating right....might be the treadmill, might be Dr. Oz 30 exercises, might be walking my daughter to school, putting the snacks away, etc...thanks for having a place for me to write it outloud

I have said for years that I am allergic to exercise. I just don't like it, so I don't do it. So, it is hard for me to think back to when I actually ran cross country in high school and had an 18" waist! Unbelievable. I think that must have been someone else!!
My fitness goal for this year is to get out and start walking with my girls. I want to set a good example for my girls - of the importance of fitness for overall health.

Amy said...

My goal is getting more exercise in by choosing to walk to places I can drive too: the McDonalds down the road, the grocery when all I need is milk & bread, walking instead of driving my son to school.

Also, I want to re-establish my routine of working out on preschool days!

Michelle Alley said...

I have said "I used to.." for too long, as I used to run everyday and used to be the size I wanted - It's very tiring to say this and have succeeded on my new years resolution to stop saying "I used to" and start over again. My goal is to get up every morning at 6:30 and exercise - I'm not planning distance or miles yet, just to get up, and get outside and run/walk as long as I can and come home. Eventually I know I will improve and add miles and distance - but for now I take each day and just do a little more to push myself so I a can say "I can", instead of "I used to".

These last few months have been very trying in our household. A tree fell in our house, a pot of boiling water fell on my son and gave him second degree burns, and I have been having some medical issues. I joked with a friend and said I need to go down for a long winter's nap to make it till the end of the year. Now that I have made it, my doctor said I have to start exercising everyday again. He said he would help relieve the stress in my life and help me from getting worse. My goal for this year is to work on my xiser and start walking again. Hopefully we can make it a little better though this year.
