invite

I had to document one of the cutest invitations I have ever seen for a birthday party. The party was last week, which we missed due to our sick household.

My friend who had the party could seriously write a book on kids birthday parties. Here was her wording for the non-sleep over party. I am a non-sleepover mom (or as Annie Kate calls me - party pooper) so this was a perfect idea of how to give your kids the feel of a sleep over without all the headache.
............................
Bring a sleeping bag, pillow and favorite stuffed friend,
Come for a sleepover that is PRETEND.

So wear your pajamas and we will have lots of fun,
you can sleep at your house when it's all done.
............................

how to make:

  • pre-quilted fabric cut to make sleeping bag. folded in half and sewn up the sides. The pinking shear edge really made it cute
  • die cut of little girl. she did each one to match the girl who was receiving the invite. little die cut is not attached
  • small piece of white felt for the pillow
  • card pulls out and has information printed on it.
So when my friend finally prints her birthday book, i will let you all know. (Kimberly hint, hint!)

What cute invites have you received lately?

Cute Invite!! I want her book when it comes out:)! Don't worry about being a "Party Pooper" We don't do sleep overs either--If they must play after dinner then we call them a late night, but I can't stay up past 10:00 :)--so party till then!

Glad to know I'm not the only "Party Pooper!" I just sent 2 different bridal shower invites and am hosting an open house tonight where the theme is "pies and goodbyes..." Can't wait for more creative ideas!

Holy cow, that is the cutest! My daughter is all about "sleep overs" and we just don't do them. This idea is perfect.
Let's see, I'm all about themes....when my oldest turned three, she was very into Cinderella. So, I let her help make "Magic Wands" out of wooden dowels, fun papers, glitter, ribbons, etc... We attached a note that said, "Bibbidy-Bobbidy, Boo! Guess who is no longer 2?!"

Cute idea, Kristi, and that ribbon looks familiar! Did you give it to her or is she a ribbon outlet shopper, too? Please, please beg her to do a book!

Great wording on the adorable invite. I am a total non-sleepover mom for so many reasons.

We have had these parties, I call the "HALF SLEEP OVERS". As part of the favors when the guests leave, I send them with a mini box of fun cereal or Pop Tarts, Donuts, etc, for their breakfast.

That is a great idea! We don't do sleep-overs either (except for occasionally with grandparents) so this is a great alternative.

Darling! Such a great idea, because I, too, am not a fan of the actual sleep over. Thanks for sharing!

Did you just LOVE the cherry blossom on the National Mall? We really do live in the coolest place! :)

Hurrah! It's reassuring to hear so many mums admit to NOT liking the sleepover trend. I'm not a fan of it, and luckily have not had to tackle it yet with Erin as she's only 5 - but I think it may rear its ugly head soon.

This invitation is absolute FUN! And how brave of that mum to do a sleepover party that's NOT a sleepover. I don't think I'd have had the balls to do smthg like that, but with wording like that - how can you go wrong? Brilliant.

I'm sorry you had to miss the party too. I'd have loved to hear how it all went :-(

At least everyone is better now??
