Back From Camp
Just walked in the door. I am slimey, dirty, stinky and tired. It could likely be one of the best weeks of my life. I can't believe I was so scared to go.
Fast list of highlights from my week before I jump in the shower:
- seeing myself in some of those girls and remembering being a kid
- seeing the baby deer by my cabin
- having a shower and toilet in my cabin (yea for she she camp)
- sharing my marathon story in a devotional
- the friendship bracelets being a big hit
- seeing the girls from downtown
- the incredible slide show of the week - me and another girl took over 1000 photos!
- the surprise freckled face girl that came up to surprise me the last night. (man I missed my girls)
- having all the girls pick a word of the year and seeing what words they picked
- not having to cook or prepare one meal for a whole week
- feeling the spirit
- seeing the girl who never smiles, smile!
- the wonderful perfect weather
- President Bush coming up to Camp David (2 miles from our camp) and the excitement and stories that came along with it
- everyone had left camp and standing with 6 of the most incredible women in circle and having a prayer together thanking our Heavenly Father for protecting us, our families and the girls. (chills!)
Off to shower, unpack and sleep!

Glad you had such a great week. I have been dying to hear about it. I hope you post a few of your fav pics later. Being a camp counselor for a Christan camp for 3 summers when I was in college were the best 3 summers of my life . Wonderful times & making wonderful lifelong friends!!!
I knew you would be both inspiring and inspired during this experience!
And yay for sharing your marathon story! I'm on week 5 of my training - and it's all thanks to you sharing your story on your blog!

Congrats, you made it home and had an awesome time. So happy for you, LOVE girl's camp!
Are you in the Suitland Stake? The girls from our ward (CapHill) just had camp this week, too.
congrats on a success camp. it sounds wonderful, it's my favorite activity in the yw program!
Don't you just LOVE girls camp!? I leave next Monday and I am dreading all the stuff it takes to get my house ready for me to go but I love being there when I get there!

I can't wait to share our camp stories Kristi! I've got some incredible ones too...misplaced the hikers and were off by 2 miles from where we needed to be. Guess I've secured the fact that I think I won't be going back to take the 4th year girls hiking next year. I love you and can't wait to hear all about it!
I knew you'd have a great time & I'm excited to hear all about it- especially after seeing your teasers!
I would love love to find out what you did for your slide show. (I'm in charge of our camp slideshow this year and pretty nervous about that.) What program did you use? Music? Did you add anything special or just pictures (sounds like you had so many to choose from!)?
Welcome home! Loved your highlights! Can't wait to hear more about it! Now go snuggle with your girls!!
I'm so glad you had a wonderful week! (and not surprised at all) You are just a perfect camp leader, you're always so fun -- they must have loved you!
How did you manage to avoid all meal prep at camp?
I loved Girls' Camp! That's great about the girls each picking a word for the year--I did that for an Enrichment activity this past term. It was a hit!
I've been lurking...sorry, so I guess I'll comment as I've recently returned from girls camp as well "orange you so glad" (heehee)...anyway, I loved it too! stepping out into the awesome "wilderness" whatever that may look like, just seems to bring out more awesome-ness (among other things >wink<) in all! welcome home!
