Father's Day Feeling

Jeff is now hooked on the joy of a day just being for you. In recent years I have fallen in love with Mother's day being a day for just me and tried to spoil Jeff with a day just for him. I think it worked.
on "our" day, you get to sleep in, don't have to cook or clean any dishes, you have the ultimate pass from anything you don't want to do and get to say "it's my day" (this applies usually to Sacrament meeting at church and are void from any responsibility with rowdy kids) you don't have to change diapers, get to pick what you want for dinner and just do what you want to do.
We at yummy monkey bread, omelets full of yummy onions, green peppers, green chilies, cherry tomatoes, avocado, a roast (cooked per Jill's husband and it was the best ever) riced potatoes and yummy gravy.
We gave Jeff his own orange hat that has been lost for a long time all wrapped up and a grapefruit cutter along with some grapefruit spoons (he is the ultimate fruit surgeon)

I always think he is dad of the year for wearing the decorated tie the girls make for him. He never likes to draw attention to himself so it is huge for him to wear this every year and never complain about it.
This year he got lots of sparklies & sequins. Some shrinky dinks and a rubber frog safety pinned on the bottom

It seemed like a perfect day to take a photo of the girls standing in front of the Church (this is a great thing to do a few times a year to watch your kids grow up over the years). Sally Jane is in such a Kung Fu Panda mode she can not take a photo without doing one of her moves.

I just love the beehive on top of the sign so AK got to get hers with the concrete beehive.

The Great Thing that happened today was AK finding her favorite thing that she owns. It is a little photo charm of Jeff when he was 5. Her Grammy gave it to her before Kindergarten. She has worn it on the first day of school every year except this year. It has been lost for almost a year and she has been so sad about it.
When we woke up this morning one of the frogs from her frog tank was missing. We looked everywhere and finally gave up thinking he must have died as he is always in the water. In the afternoon we found him downstairs covered in dust (guess who does not clean her floors) and he survived the hours out of the water. But in our looking she found her photo charm and was just thrilled and she said "of course it is on Father's Day!"

Also I am putting out a white dress alert. The girls dresses are on super sale right now at the Gap. Caroline's was only $14.99 in the store only up to a size 5(for some reason it was more online) Sally Jane's was $12.99. The GAP will do a price adjustment if you buy it online and it is cheaper in the store. AK's was full price but also at the Gap right now and a great white dress for a girl growing out of smocking (rats!) They are great eyelet dresses if you need some for a wedding or beach photos or really anytime!

Did you make a Father's Day tie?
Did he wear it?

And what about your cute white dress....?

Yes. Mark wears the tie that I add the photo of E to every year. I'll post it to my blog later tonight. He loves to wear it.

I am SO in love with that photo of Caroline. Beautiful.

Glad you all had a wonderful day!

Sounds like a perfect day--especially finding lost treasures and tasty monkey bread and roast. Smack.

Yes, I borrowed your fabulous idea this year and Annelise made a tie for Scott--she was soooo excited to give it to him. He was a great sport and wore it to church yesterday AND half a day to work today too.

I am on the prowl for a nice white skirt this year.

Love, love the white dresses. I'm not sure if my 10 & 12 year old would be interested in a white dress, but probably! I'll have to take them shopping! :)
Looks like a fun and yummy father's day. Wonderful pictures. I should have taken some dad & kids pics while they were still dressed for Church. Next year! :)
BTW- wanted to let you know you can number me among the dollar book makers for teacher appreciation (8 more days of school left!)
Thanks as always for the inspiration! :)

What a great day! I love the white dresses.

Our Father's Day was overshadowed by Junior Church responsibilities, our pastor's last Sunday, visiting family and party clean up. I have decided to secretly surprise hubby next Sunday with a Father's Day make up day. I think he'll be surprised.

Love the cute white dresses! You are quite daring with the all white with the girls, but extremely cute pics for sure. I love the beehive one, since I love beehives!!!

Hi Kristi,

I have had some really nasty stuff happen on my blog this weekend so I have going completely private with it. I dont know how to make it so that people I like can see it, and I like you so be patient until I work out how to do it. Otherwise leave a message with Jennifer H. She will pass it on.

We made a tie this year for the first time ever, and he wore it like a wonderfully doting father. Gotta love that guy!

I love Sally's Kung Fu Panda Moves! Man is her hair sun kissed and blonde! I love that picture of Caroline and I am so happy that AK found that necklace!

The picture of AK will be especially sweet when she enters the Beehive class. I have a great picture of my son in front of the Restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood statue on Temple Square that I will pull out when he turns 12 this summer.
I will have to check out those Gap dresses, they would coordinate nicely with my new eyelet skirt I bought at Ross on Women's Conference weekend.

Oh Kristi your photos in this post are gorgeous! The ones of Jeff and the girls are priceless. I don't think a girl can have enough photos with her dad, smiling like that. And Caroline, just beautiful.

And you look adorable in your cute white dress with the girls. I am such a fan of smocking and eyelet. Cute, cute.

I buy my girls white eyelet dresses every year. I love them. They are so hard to find with sleeves. I love the photo of Caroline. I'm so sad my litle girls have outgrown baby gap. Their dresses are always so cute.

Such great Father's Day photos of your girls and Jeff. Looks like a great day.

You took so many great pictures!! Jeff is looking super distinguished and doctor-like, and the girls look beautiful (as usual) in their white dresses. I love it that Annie Kate found her charm necklace on Father's Day!

We DID make a tie this year on your inspiration. It had even more sparkles on it than Jeff's... and YES he wore it... what a champ... thanks for the idea...

Hi Kristi,

Bek recommended your blog to me, because she said that you lived in the DC Area. My family and I will be moving out there in the middle of August and we are currently in the house-hunting process. We're hoping to buy, but might rent for the first bit. Right now I am just trying to figure out where we want to live. We're looking at Alexandria, Vienna, Falls Church area but have also just started to explore some Maryland options as well. I'd love to hear your suggestions, if you don't mind a total stranger picking your brain. :)

Thanks,

Erin

P.S. I love the white dresses, so great! I'm totally going to the Gap this week!

P.S. I also run marathons and am signed up for the Baltimore Half this year! Can't wait!!! :)

Kristi, these photos are amazing! (the one of Caroline at the end -- oh my. You will be framing that one, I hope?) I think Jeff is an awesome dad to wear that tie! And he looks great with his glasses.

How cute is it that AK found her necklace on Father's Day? Thanks for the white dress alert -- I will be looking!
