the peak

Since I am pretty darn sure when I get back from our trip my flowers will have missed my three drinks of water a day that I give them. So I thought I better take a photo of the back yard at probably it's peak. My window boxes are my favorite ever.my first year ever that my sweet potato vine grew gigantic

and I feel like I saved the life of these plants that the man told me were all dead!

How is your garden going?

Seeing your post reminded me off the pictures that I had taken of our yard tat I forgot to post. Unfortunately, the summer heat has done a number on the flowers so they don't look as good as they used to.

Those are gorgeous Kristi! I love that you have the little flat in your box. I think I am actually going to have edible food out of my garden this year. I can't believe it!

My garden is much like Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary's this year. In fact, I just spent a half hour going around our yard taking pictures of everything I love about our yard and garden--from the chickens in the coop to Calvin's bow targets to the unripe peaches on the tree to the beans in the garden. I'm telling you, we're on the same page today!

Your window boxes are so beautiful. I love the flag in them and their vibrancy. I wish I were there to water them for you so they'd be pretty when you get back. Hooray for your salvaged plants...

Before we even got all of our boxes unpacked here in California, we built a garden box and planted a little vegetable garden. I am sad that my husband will be in Iraq and not able to see the vegetables grow, but the girls and I will enjoy them and enjoy telling him about them.

Your flowers are beautiful!

I've got a few flowering plants in bloom that we planted. Plus we have some sunflower seeds which we planted and they are getting pretty tall, so hopefully sometime before winter they will bloom! :) I also have a container tomato plant, which has 3 nice big tomatoes but they are still quite green! I wish they'd turn red!

I was watering the yellow patches of grass in our yard this morning and lamenting how much I've neglected the yard this year. I don't know what happened except that I gave up before I even started. I didn't plant ANY flowers. It's so sad. Our beds are covered in weeds and look overgrown and pathetic. Your flowers look gorgeous! Will you have a neighbor watering them for you while you're gone?

Oh, I do not have a green thumb! It is a very light green if any. I do have tomatoes in pots in the back right now - they are my babies. I really hope I get some, cuz I want to can ALOT this fall. I'm trying to grow herbs in my kitchen window and have a ton of fruit flies now - any suggestions? I just did a post last week about it.

Your many blooming pots are quite cheery. Glad you recorded it--though hope some will survive your absence.

Our garden is wilting and drying out--we can't keep up with the savage sun.

Your plants are gorgeous! Looks like the pictures are right out of a gardening catalog. Sadly, my garden has past it's prime this year and will have to wait until it is no longer 115 degrees outside.

Gorgeous! I am so jealous of the windowboxes, I wish I had some of those. Sweet potato vine is probably my favorite plant, and yours are beautiful!
