Back to School Bag

At the beginning of this school year we made some "YW Back to school bags" for the girls to let them know we were thinking of them.Whole Foods did not go for my using their salad boxes again - but they were kind enough to donate these brown sack bags (don't know how they would feel about me covering them up)

Here is what we put in them.

Fruit by the foot - Put your best foot forward
Pencils - We think you are sharp!
A rock with the word prayer written on with a simple sharpie
A lollipop - to remind you to stick to the scriptures to help you "lick" any obstacles this year
Eraser - to remind you you can start each new day with a clean slate
Rubber band - Stretch your mind this year
paper clips - You have all the tools to hold it together
Hershey Hugs - Just some extra hugs when you need them
Smarties - Smarties for the smartie
Tootsie Roll - to remind you to roll with the punches this year
Sponge - to remind you to soak it all in this year
Almond Joy candy bar - We hope this year brings you great joy

One of the leaders wrote a letter and put in these amazing hand made cards made by another leader. It was great to divide them up and deliver them one by one to let the girls know we are thinking of them.

Hope this idea helps anyone who could use this idea for other events.
The items inside were inexpensive and easy to do. (living by the ribbon outlet helps too) Right now with Halloween candy out is a great way to put some bags like this together.

I'm sure they must have loved these, Kristi. I think all the extra little touches make the girls feel all the more love from their leaders.

I saw your post on tip junkie. Even though my boys aren't YW I think I will make this for them. Everyone likes candy right? If you haven't yet, you should submit this to sugardoodle.net

P.S. I thought of another one you could add. "Chews good friends to help you choose the right" with GUM. I believe having good friends at school is important. I know you did this last year, but I thought about adding that one to mine. Thanks again for the idea :)

I love all of the creative messages associated with the items in the bag.

And raising4boys' idea is great too - "Chews good friends..." Ha! Very clever indeed.
