I was here!!

Last Saturday I completed my second Marathon in exactly 12 months. I had never run before a year and a half ago. Running has been a wonderful blessing for me, even though I am the slowest runner I have ever met. (seriously I have never met anyone who runs slower than me)

Before I write a little bit about my wonderful day, here is a little video montage of one of the best days of my life.

enjoy! I hope it motivates anyone thinking that they can't do a marathon - that you can do it!

Baltimore Under Armor Marathon,
Baltimore Maryland 2008

Congratulations! Your video is very touching. I am amazed that you have done two in one year! It has been a few years since I have done one... Maybe it will be Baltimore 2009?

Great documentation my friend. Love the video, and love that you had a built in photographer! Congrats on the great job!

(This made me really antsy for my own race next week!!!)

I cry every time I see my video and I cried when I saw yours. It is the most amazing feeling in the world, isn't it. I am ready to do it again, finally! Maybe Baltimore is a good one to try out. I love that you stopped and took all those pictures and videos and gave out those hugs. You are an inspiration!

You know I am a cry baby! I thought about you all day on Saturday and offerend many prayers! Do you know how many people love you?

Scream!! This was fantastic. I loved all of your documentation along the way. I got teared up seeing you not only run the race, but taking notice of everything around you makes the event so much MORE. The faster runners might have an award or a time PR, but you definitely have an experience PR!! Which is the BEST!

(Selfishly, I also got choked up & pit of tummy nervous thinking about my upcoming event. Yikes!)

I am in aw of you! You leave "your mark" in so many ways...with each post...you reach through thousands of computer screens and into the hearts of women who want to believe they are something. You are amazing! Thank you for sharing who you are!

I wanna come run with you!! What a great idea to go and document your journey! I will definetely do that next time!

Wasn't the community around the marathon amazing?? OMG I wanted to hug all the cheerleaders and water volunteers. All their encouragement meant the world to me.

Now I want a video!!

Wouldn't that be fantastic...Alaska to Baltimore to run? A once in a lifetime opportunity! If you don't watch out, you are going to have a crowd running with you next year!

Loved every minute of your video...seriously, what is it that makes me cry every time I see someone running a race and finishing?

Fantastic! Thanks for the inspiration.

That was great. My mom does marathons too. She just did the St George one a few weeks ago. It was her *I think* 18th marathon. It might be a few more than that and she is turning 60 in two weeks!
I loved your slide show. You look like you really enjoy the journey on your runs. I think that is really inspiring.

Oh, that was awesome! YOu had me smiling and crying! I love that you took time to document the race and all the people that were SO supportive. I can't believe all the neighbors and everyone! Wow. You've got me psyched up now. If I could afford to fly out there next year, I would love to run it with you!! Seriously, I have never been a runner and so I'm sure I have to be slower than you! I can't even run a straight mile yet. I'm gonna try again tomorrow morning! Congratulations on finishing! :o)

Next year on Oct 9 I turn 40! Who knows maybe you have inspired me to run!

It helps that my SIL is a marathon runner and has been in 4 Olympic Trials. She Works for Brooks so I should be able to snag some awesome shoes.

By the way she left you a comment on your post about your list of what you were taking. Her name is Liz Wilson.

Kristi -- confession time. I have been lurking for a LONG time. So long that it feels weird to introduce myself now. I love your spirit. This video had me in floods of tears. You are an incredible person with a beautiful way of capturing life as you soak up it up. I am so inspired and setting my alarm so I run tomorrow, even though 5K feels like a marathon at the moment. But it is my time for myself and I know it is my glue. I'll even wear my pink top. Louise xx
PS - I hope you don't think I am weird stalker type - i promise I am not.

Yes, I DO want to run it with you! After all your talk about the Baltimore Marathon, it is definitely on my list!

Great documentation, Kristi. You will cherish that forever. Of course I am typing this with tears running down my face. I LOVE that you gave that music man $50.00. I imagine you'll be doing that again next year - and I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve. Let me just say again how proud I am of you. You did it!!!

Did you know Spirit of the Marathon is now out on DVD now? I bet you already have it, but if not, go grab yourself a copy! I just got mine in the mail and can't wait to watch it.

Hey Krisi,
Great job on your marathon- they are never easy!
I just got back from doing the half in San Francisco and I highly recommend this race. It was very busy with 20 000 runners but very well organized and a lot of fun. Just think of running by the ocean, a chocolate mile and a Tiffany neclace at the finish line!!!
Check it out.

Amazing! I love love love the way you documented all of this, Kristi. Way to be strong and keep running past the garage sales! This video is just a treasure so you can always remember your marathon. My favorite thing of all is the picture of your whole family crossing the finish line.

Hi Kristi, Congratulations on finishing!! I just told my friend Andrea today that I am going to run a marathon in May. I had my 4th baby 11 months ago and I am in okay shape. I have always wanted to run a marathon and I finally committed to do it before I am 35. Anyway, Andrea told me about you, she reads your blog, and told me I should come check out your story. It was so inspirational, I cried the whole time! Thanks for the needed boost in confidence!!
