SPT
I think it would be incredibly romantic to ...

walk on the beach in Spain with my Valentine on our 14th wedding Anniversary.

As amazing as the day was this past summer and how much I do love this photo, let me just tell you what you don't see when you look at this photo. (you know just to keep things real)

You don't see
  • my 10 year old who is taking the photo who saying, "why do I have to do this?"
  • my 3 & 4 year old running on the beach and me being totally afraid they are going to get lost in the crowd, but me knowing if I don't make someone take a photo of me there will be documentation that I even went with them
  • the many years that we did absolutely nothing for our anniversary
  • the cargo plane we had to ride on to even get to Spain and the geo metro size car that we traveled in while there
What you do see
  • my Popeye legs - how can I not have a calf complex with this photo?
  • that darn dark spot in the most inconvient spot on my swim cover up (you think if I was going to photoshop the photo I would have taken that out)

i too have been "blessed" with popeye calves. i've gotten so many comments on them from random people. but by far the funniest story to come out of them has to be from the summer i worked as a counselor at a girl scout camp...

i was reprimanding our biggest camper for hitting a little girl half her size. the large camper was vehemently against the fact that she was going to receive disciplinary action for what she did. in her family hitting was how she had to discipline her younger siblings so she thought hitting was just fine. in her tirade against me she shouted, "you don't know me! i don't know you!" and then began listing all the things she didn't know about me. and in the middle of that list she said, "and i don't even know if you have calve implants." it was all i could do to not laugh while trying to stay firm with my discipline.

{sorry for the comment, just had to share my story}

Think of the amazing places those calves have taken you!

Europe, marathon(S), your mission, to the hospital to have your children, walking through the ribbon outlet, to temples....

Someday AK will be so glad she took that picture.

And I didn't even notice the dark spot until you mentioned it!

I love the picture. I have monster calves as well and have had many comments both funny and hurtful. I love yours- I wish mine were as toned!

I love that photo and I love the "keepin it real" element, kind of like Anderson Cooper's "Keeping them Honest" segments.

The photo is amazing. I love it! I love even more the commentary. That is "real" life. But the moment looks great.

I love your behind the scenes stuff lately in an attempt to keep it real! It's still romantic and amazing that you guys were on a beach in Spain for your 14th anniversary.

Is there ever a perfect moment without those real-life surroundings? Really? I love the behind-the-scenes information, and I still think it's pretty romantic. And for the record, I'd take your calves over mine any day...

I think popeye calves represent strength--think where those calves have carried you. (I seem to have them too.)

Enjoyed the behind the scenes scoop!

K, I didn't realize I was the third or fourth person to say "behind the scenes". Sorry!

I think your calves look great! Don't worry about them so much! I think the photo is great. Thank goodness you did have AK taking the picture! And congrats on 14+ years!

A very romantic photo...and making time to do that amid all the chaos and "real" life is really what romance is all about, don't ya think?!

Like Michelle, I would love to have your legs...

You should be so proud of those calves. those are runner's calves and I would kill to have those!

I am a total lurker but had to comment on your fabulous calves. I have calves that look just like that but mine don't go down into great ankles. We just call them cankles at my house. Just foot to thigh with no definition inbetween. Gotta love it!!
