Anytime I go to a new Mexican restaurant I usually order the Chili Relleno's to see if I can find ones better than the ones I grew up on. I never do.
But then on my recent (amazing, awesome) trip to Seattle I just may have found my new favorite!
It was not deep fried and was stuffed with fresh shredded white meat chicken. Ohh la la. It was tasty.
and even though I sassed at my sister in law to not take this photo of me, I am so glad she did because it is a memory of my new favorite resturant in Seattle.
If you are ever at University Village in Seattle go to Sonrisa.
The manager is really nice - tell him I sent you!

You made friends with the manager? Why am I not surprised?!
Seriously, that looks delicious!
Chili Reno's? Isn't it Chili Relleno? That's how we call it in Texas. I'm wondering if this is hometown slang? If so, cute!
My favorite Chili Relleno is the one at Cozymels (chain down here...maybe you have them where you live?) It is chicken too. Seriously yummy...so look for it!
The chili pepper is a wonderful thing, isn't it? Now, it's breakfast & I'm craving salsa!!!
Yum! I LOVE University Village, used to live right by it...
The picture of your family.

hey kristi, i love love love chiles rellenos too!, I make them quite yummy! have you had then in nogada? they are popular in independence day, they are more kind of sweet with a pecan sweet sauce and pomegranates on top....welll well well what I was to tell you, next time you are in LA i'll come with, they have the greatest one I've had in along long while at THE PLACITA OLVERA I'm telling you it is good, it doesn't look as cute as this sonrisa's one....I'll keep an eye!
OMG! I'm a chili relleno aficionado, too! I also order them wherever serves them to try to find the best. My BFF lives in a Seattle suburb, so next time I visit I'll have to take your recommendation and try it out!
My favorite is also not deep fried, and also has chicken - it's from Z Tejas. Their website describes it as "Grilled poblano pepper stuffed with chicken, pecans, apricots, raisins, a blend of spices and Jack cheese, served over a green chile and picante cream sauce with green chile rice and black beans."
It's not traditional, but it is DELICIOUS!!!!
