Getting Packed

We are trying something new this year with having each girl carry her own treats, electronics and goodies for the trip. We got these great REI backpacks that have a water bladder. We hope this will cut down on the "I need....."
One can dream right?
The girls were trying them on to see if they are too heavy. They are filled with $1.00 store junk to keep them occupied
I had to take a photo of my window boxes before I left, because they never seem to be the same once I return each summer. Don't know if you can see the ginormous sunflower in the back that grew from a seed.
Sally Jane is sporting my homemade version of noise cancelling headphones. The planes are all so loud you can't even hear with headphones. So I hope by getting these stretchy bands pressing the headphones to their ears it will do the trick. (oh that Sassy little Sally!)
The clip of the backpacks also have a safety whistle so when the kids get lost in the Louvre they can sound their rescue!

We are 24 hours and counting until showtime (that is the Military was of saying what time you have to show up) we have called 4 different bases that have flights and it is going to be a MIRACLE, let me repeat MIRACLE if we make it to Germany. Our minds are starting to think England and Spain and then figure out a way to get to France... oh the suspense is so exciting.
Jeff and I are like junkies calling the bases today sitting on the edge of our seats hearing what is available and then never knowing until minutes before you leave if you will get on.

Ok not it is panic packing time!!!
and i must figure out a way to break the news to Sally Jane that her yellow tutu is not making the trip with us!

Have a FABULOUS trip!

I have each of my kids (age 8 and 6) carry their own backbacks with sketchbooks, disp. cameras, trail mix and snacks, as well as their electronics like ipods and their Nintendo DS. It really works!

I am so excited for you guys! I know you are going to have a fabulous time!

I think that the yellow tutu should go and Sally Jane should wear it as much as she wants. Why not?

I hope the backpacks with water bladders do the trick! I think it's great to have each kid in charge of their own stuff.

Good luck with your journey. It's exciting not knowing where you're going to end up.

As soon as the my twins turned 18 months, I bought them their own back packs and they have been "lugging" their stuff around since! Trips, church etc.. - it's the only way to do it!

I always have my little carry their own 'stuff' - hope it works for you!
