This year my word of the year is Virtue. I like to do a big project each year that focuses on the word I have chosen. This year it took me until August to finish my project (I will write about it at the end of the year)

Reading this above book was one of the results of my project. I am so happy to have found this book, bought it, started it and finished it. I love, love, love this book! I loved reading and hated finishing it - I didnt' want it to end. I felt like I was watching a movie every time I was reading it. I told a friend that seriously when I opened the book I felt like music started playing and when I closed it the music stopped. I did anything I could to find time to read this book.

My love for south helped me gush all over this book. After I read it I found myself wanting to sit and talk about it with someone wishing I had a group of gals to have lunch with who had also read it. Our church group book reads books that are WAY over my head so I never go or read the books. I went twice and felt like a 4th grade idiot. (Man I live around some smart women here)
I slipped a copy of the book to the women in charge of picking the books and she put it on the list in the spring - woo hoo! So I will for sure read it again and now have a copy of it on CD (which I hear is amazing to listen to as well)

After reading it I felt like I wanted to walk up to every black person I saw and just apologize to them for what my ancestors did to their ancestors. After reading this book and "Same kind of Different as Me" I feel like I have a whole different perspective on racial discrimination. It has brought out a lot of feelings in me that may be too personal to write on here.
But my heart is soft.To the author Ms. Stockett.
Way to go on your first book.
I loved every page.
Please write more.

Have you read this book?
Did you love it?

I loved, loved, loved this book, too, and have it gushed about it to everyone who will listen. This is definitely my "book of the year."

I haven't read this yet because our book club is waiting for it to go into paperback, so we'll read it next year. But I've heard nothing but rave reviews from everyone who has read it so I can hardly wait to read it!

I read the book. I LOVED the book. I didn't want the book to end. It was the only book club book in about 5 years that we ALL read. We couldn't believe it was the author's first book. First books are rarely so well done.

As I walked the book aisle in Costco a woman next to me picked up the book and I had to tell her how good it was. She acted like I was a little crazy but she bought it!

Another one? wow.. I think I need to purchase this one.. it has a long wait list at the library... as did the other one you just posted about.

Did you email the author with your review? I bet she would love to read this... sounds like she really touched your heart. I can't wait to read it!

I did read this book, and I really enjoyed it. Like you it was meaningful because I have lived in the South too. I am hoping that my Book Group will read it as well.

I think I had the same feeling you did about loving this book. I too didn't want it to end. Towards the end I was reading slower and slower just to make it last a little longer.

I also loved the book and now have it on disk so that I can hear it read. For a first-time book, the author will have a hard time topping it!

I am dying to read this book! Like Jill said, we have been waiting for the paperback edition, but I just don't know if I can wait. I'm so glad you loved it. There's nothing like reading a book that is so good you try to sneak a few pages whenever you can.

But my favorite thing is that you said your heart is soft, such a great thing.

If you have a Costco in your area, they have the book in paperback.

I haven't read it, but it is on my list. Your are the 4th person to rave about it to me.

Kelly bought be this book for my birthday and brought it to me for our girlfriends trip to the coast. I LOVE, love, love this book! I, too, was sad when it ended. So many questions - hello - Minny and Aibileen - more details - let's finish this story....

This story spoke to me. I loved every moment and was not ready for it to end at all.

I am in awe that this was her first novel. I loved how these women loved those babies that they raised. My heart hurt for 'the help' and for the total unjustice during that time period. We have made great strides - but we still have a long way to go...

Oh - such a great read...

I just finished this book...and LOVED it. I didn't want it to end. I have been telling every one I know to read it.

But I don't know if I will ever be able to eat chocolate pie again.

I too LOVED this book! It was one of those that made me sad once I finished it because it was over. I so enjoyed reading it each night!
I enjoyed how she told the story using the different characters.

The Help is such a good book. It touched me with it's heartfelt story and it was so funny. I would read funny lines back to Milo with a southern accent I imagined The Help using. Loved it!
