keepsakes - but where to keep them?

What if you are going to the Nations Capitol for a visit and don't want to bring home lots of trinkets from your trip that will all end up breaking anyway.
Well, you could get a darling hand painted box and put in it a penny with the year on it for visiting the Lincoln memorial, a nickel with Jefferson and a quarter for going to Mt. Vernon and a dime for the FDR. Give each coin to your child as you are standing at the memorial and show them the back of the penny, etc. And have you seen the new President gold dollars. They are awesome! The John Adams one would be great to give away to members of your book club if you have all read his biography.
you could also put in the small little ticket to riding the Smithsonian carousel inside or other small tickets you may end up just throwing away.
Each of my girls have a silver box that says Washington D.C. on it. Since I am a gift shop junkie, Jeff says if it does not fit in the box then I can not buy it. It keeps me only saving really special items.
but where would you get a cute box like this... hmmm...
or is your friend moving this summer and you want to give her something special for her new home. You could have her new address painted on the inside of the lid and then you write a bunch of moving quotes on little pieces of paper and put them inside. Or write a sweet letter of how much you will miss her and put it inside.
Or if someone is leaving a home they love paint the old address inside a place for them to always keep the key to that home inside.
but where would one get one of these cute handmade boxes....????....
or do you want to start a tradition where you take one photo of yourself or child on their birthday. it could be small and then cut with a circle cutter with their age on the back. How cool would it be to have 35 photos all in a small, hand painted box watching you grow up in an instant!
Or even just a sweet note to write to your child on their birthday and put it in the birthday box.
but where could you get one of these.....????or do you want a special place to put your childs tooth so it doesn't get lost for the tooth fairy during their sleep?

so is the suspense killing you of where you can get these one of a kind gifts. You can get them here!
And you even have a chance to win one here if you hurry to here! hurry! it is filling up fast!

all these photos are from love boxes etsy shop.

  1. I think your D.C. coin idea is fabulous. I don't enjoy bulky souvenirs much because I always wonder where they're going to go, so this is a great idea!

  11. Kristi-

I just have to let you know that I miss DC so much (and part of it is your fault, for always making it sound as good as it is! ;-)) I passed on information about the ribbon outlet to a friend preparing for her wedding. I just benefitted by way of Good Mail, and just have to thank you for so many wonderful ideas and resources!

  13. Argh, I just lost a big comment in the bowels of Blogger! :-(

Was just saying that I admire the way you construct your posts, Kristi, into little links. I just dump my thoughts willy-nilly, but I love that you put time into yours.

Love the boxes too. So pretty and dinky. I'd love to spend time handpainting smthg as dainty as those boxes. *dreams*

Have added to Tiffany's 100 comments post, and hope that she gets there. What a boost for her if she does!
