I am From...

"If you don't know where you're from,
you'll have a hard time saying where you're going."
Wendell Berry

I am from stucco homes with wonderful gardens, rocks for a front lawn and the smell of mesquite after a desert rain.

I am from white sands and Ponderosa pines.

I am from English Crackers for Christmas, beautiful eyes, Wahl’s, Rasmussen’s and numerous freckles.

I am from hide your emotions and let them run freely.

I am from “I can’t say peaches, can you say peaches” and “There is no free lunch”.

I am from families can be together forever and the restored church of Jesus Christ.

I am from Las Cruces, New Mexico and Scotland, baklava and tostadas compuestas.

I am from the mountains where I learned to fish, backpack and clean a deer and the house of green carpets and Tiffany lamps.

I am from boxes of V8 movies watched again and again on a white sheet on the wall, a red square photo album and large river rafting photos down the animas river.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I am tagging anyone who reads this blog. and I am tagging my parents and Jeff's parents I would love to have you try this experiment, you can just email it to me.

Last night when I read your poem I was so excited to try my own that I didn't comment on how beautiful yours is. I love the descriptions of New Mexico, and the whole concept really. You did a great job, and I kept thinking "wow, she wrote this?!"

This is so cool. Such a poetic way of finding out more about a person. I'm going to check into it when I have more time.

I love it. I did mine, but it was really hard. You are a better writer than me.

Reading your cousin's poem reminds me that my mom always says, "nice girls don't say suck."

I always seem to have problems with your site, although maybe it's me, your poem was miniscule and therefore unreadable, but I did love your cousins poem and jill's comment about "suck", mom would always say "people don't suck vacuum cleaners do". I need to work on my poem.
