blessing!
one of the blessings of our trip was our car rental. Jeff went to Priceline to bid on a car rental. He bid $30 a day for a van, which we figured would get us a strip down model.
The car rental place was like 20 minutes from the SLC airport in some remote (scary) location. They didn't have a van for us to use and tried to talk him into a large sedan. After he didn't budge on that they ended up giving him the only thing that would fit our family, a 2007 fully loaded Suburban with 4 miles on it. The employee told Jeff it rents for $150 a day in the winter time and that he would probably lose his job for giving it to us for 10 days. it was a total score.
Even with the luxury of the week our kids still struggled driving in the car. We just don't do road trips. We couldn't get the overhead DVD player to work because they didn't give us the remote, so we used our small portable one.(which i got the morning after Thanksgiving for $53 ohh I can't wait to blog about those deals this year) The girls were fighting over being able to see it. So on our way out of St. George today we stopped at the gas station to see if they had some kind of tape or rope to tape it inbetween the two seats or tie it to the back of one.
I walked in there looking a little frazzled by all the screaming and asked if they sold duct tape or rope. Can you imagine what the lady thought i was going to do to my kids?

the above photo is the GPS system in the car. we loved it!!

I love it that you guys scored such a great deal on that awesome car. You deserved that blessing and all the room, comforts, and amenities it afforded you guys. You had a crazy, crazy week and I can't imagine how much harder it would have been if you'd been in a stripped down minivan.

haaa cracked up about the duct tape. I love those portable dvd players, but getting them set up in the car is a little tiresome.

fabulous deal on the van. Adam and I need to take some lessons from the two of you.

We got a portable dvd player before a long road trip and it was a life-saver, but not easy to get set up in the car. Someday we'll have a van with one installed in the ceiling! I'm glad you guys got the Suburban, what would you have done without it?
