We made it!
We made it to Maryland. The girls as we drove across the state line. We came into town right into traffic and got stuck on the beltway for an hour and 45 min.
The one thing that saved us was that we had a place to go and people waiting for us. My roommate from BYU, Emily Davis, grew up in Potomac Maryland. She called me on Monday and asked if we wanted to stay with her family. (she now lives in MA) At first we were thinking of sleeping in our empty house for two days, and then I thought no way.
So we finally got off the beltway and made it to Piney Meeting House Road (I never forgot her street, it is such a cool name) Her brother Adam and his wife Katie were there with smiles on. They had dinner ready for us and had invited their cousins over who live in our neighborhood so we could meet them.
They will never know what a blessing that was for us to feel like someone cared about us on today. We were tired, cranky and started feeling a little lonely.
Their home is wonderful! It is on a compound with homes of all their family. Emily had always told me about how she grew up, but I just never got it. Jeff and I felt so lucky to be there and just see such a wonderful way of life.
tonight we are tired but glad to have made it to our new state.

Travel tradition from when I grew up that we still do. Whenever you cross a state line you shake hands with everyone in the car. It always reminds me of a kid when we do that. Thanks mom for always having such fun traditions for EVERYTHING!

Wow, what a trip. I'm glad you made it safely and hope you'll soon be settled into your new house!
I've been checking your blog everyday (okay maybe every few hours...) to see if you made it alright. The emotional rollercoaster ride of moving is crazy and I was worried you had handcuffed yourself to your tramp and told Jeff you weren't moving! Trust me, ideas like that cross my mind everytime we move! Glad you are there safe and sound. Hope the move-in goes smoothly.
Congratulations on making it! I'm sure your exhausted. Good luck on getting settled. I think its hardest on the kiddos, I know it is for us. AND I know and have been to that compound. Its the Folger clan right? The Folgers (the grandparents of Emily--I hope I'm right) are one of my favorite people in the world. Small world!
Yeah! YOu made it! hope the girls are excited about their new adventure. Can't wait hear all about the new house and neighborhood, it sounds wonderful. I have been thinking of you daily and hoping the trip went well. Hang in there. Heather
Congrats on arriving to MD! Its a beautiful state and was just made 5 better because the Cutlers are there!
I'm glad you made it - can't wait to see your new place and hear of your adventures there.
I should have thought of the chaining you to the trampoline thing! Don't think I wouldn't have done it! :)
We have all missed your blog...it felt like it does when Oprah or Katie Couric used to go on vacation-just not quite the same! Glad your back to blogging!
I am so glad you made it safe and sound and that you are back online baby. Can't wait to hear about you new adventures.
I've been thinking about you and wondering how your drive and move are going. I'm glad you made it there safely and am very glad you had a good place to stay.
Everyone should be so lucky to know a Davis. I love that family and they seriously have the nicest, most generous group of kids ever.
Glad you made it safely. We have missed having you on line.
Moves are always a new experience,as much as we plan, there is always the unexpected. One of our great responsibilities as a parent is to make moves an exciting adventure for the children. We didn't always do that for you but it is still a good idea. Your Mom started me nearly 40 years ago shaking hands as we went from state to state. In our first year married we moved to Montana and have been shaking hands ever since.
