Family Tradition
The other day when I was opening a new jar of peanut butter I remembered something my mom and dad used to do when I was a kid. I don't know if it was something they did growing up (did they even have peanut butter growing up?) or if they started it when they got married. But they used to write notes in the peanut butter and then close it up for everyone in the family to find.
It was so fun to remember and start again with my family. I wonder how long it will take for someone to find this one.
Mom, if you read this tell me how you started this, I would love to know. And I hope you don't feel old by the peanut butter comment, but I would love to know that too.

That is cute, I think I'll adopt that tradition, if you don't mind. I love peanut butter, so new jars come often.

holy cow Kristi. I never realized where this came from. I do this with Kari all the time. It is funny how we forget where some things came from in the first place.

I like doing this in butter too. That way those big tubs you can write an essay or something.

Kristi, that is so cute that you thought we might not have had peanut butter when we were little. We did have peanut butter and I only remember Skippy brand. I do remember when they came out with Jif and Peter Pan brands, but not the year. Anyway, Dad actually started the note writing after we got married. He didn't do it as a kid. He's just very romantic and clever. He would open a new jar and take some out carefully down the side of the jar with his knife so he could write me a note. After that, it was always the first one to open a new jar would get to write a note. He was always eating a peanut butter sandwich at night, so it was usually your Dad who wrote notes. He still does.

He is also the inventor of the letter pancakes when you kids had friends stay overnight. What a guy!!

I love this tradition, I might just have to do that when I have my own family!

What a cute tradition, I love it and will have to try that the next time we need a new jar (we just opened one last week). Landon is the peanut butter sandwich maker and eater in our house, so he'll be the one to find it. How fun.

What a great tradition! I love peanut butter! I will have to try this sometime, although we use the natural peanut butter, so it may not work, cuz you have to stir it up.

Bummer, we get Adam's, the kind that you stir up, so it wouldn't work at our house. I see you come from a long line of tradition-makers. So cute. I want to know your dad!

Spencer said what I was going to say. I love it when he leaves me a little note in the butter.

My mom never wrote notes in food but I would always find a little note on my pillow when I went to bed at night. I loved it!

My family does that as well. We got the idea from a really old Skippy's PB commercial!
