it is coming...
as a kid Halloween was my least favorite holiday. I never like dressing up and I was always embarrassed for those who did, especially in college and when I was married.
But as a mom, I LOVE Halloween. We have so many Halloween traditions and this year will be starting a few more. (more to come) I am sure it is because I love to sew their costumes. I love candy and I love orange and white polka dots.
so when I walk into stores and they are pulling out their Halloween items I go crazy! Especially Target. I love when they get their Halloween items in. So far ours just has the candy.
I love seeing what Pottery Barn Kids does (photo above) love getting the catalogs with costumes.
Oh, it means fall is coming! I love it!
Any Halloween traditions you want to share before I start my list in a few weeks.

side note, does anyone else think it is funny that the blog spell check does not recognize the word blog?

It's ridiculous that the blogger spell check doesn't recognize the world blog. I find it doesn't recognize many of the words I want it to check and then end up thinking what's the point of spell checking at all.

I loved Halloween as a kid and I like as an adult. We don't do anything too crazy or tradition-filled. We decorate the house (and I'm way more excited about that this year because we got a ton of spooky decorations on clearance last year) and we always trick or treat with our cousins.

I love Halloween. Especially gathering ideas and thoughts of what our kids are going to be. Each year we have a tradition of being something as the whole family. (one year we were the wizard of oz, toy story, etc. It has gotten harder as the kids have gotten older to keep this. But we are going to shoot for another year!

Oh, and my most favorite the candy goods! I can't eat enough of that candy corn.

Also, I always find myself buying costumes after Halloween. They are so dang cheap and great to add to the dress up box!

I love Halloween. It is my 2nd favorite holiday for sure. I love decorating the house and I especially love carving pumpkins. When I was in college I started buying those carving kits with the really cool designs... LOVE THOSE. I would end up buying several pumpkins because I could never decide on just one design.

fall is my favorite season and haloween is my favorite holiday. October is also my b-day so it's full of fun and sugar highs!! I love having haloween dance day! all the girls take dance in their costume! Then As the "witch" we play a game where I catch them all and put them in my giant caludren. I also love trunk-or-treating. we always go to the church, open up our decorated trunks and the kids go around for the candy. In SLC it was the safest. But in price we just go door to door. I love it all!

Yes, I was just thinking that the other day! I should do a blog on how the spellcheck doesn't recognize the word blog. I LOVE Halloween, did you know it is Martha's favorite holiday? This Halloween my breast will most likely be engorged and I will be staying home with a newborn while Craig takes the kiddies out trick or treating. But, I'm excited that our third child will get to have costume parties for his/her birthday!!

Here is a Halloween tradition for you, my mom always wanted us to eat a healthy meal before Tick or Treating. She would make crazy dinners...like all green foods, or stew in a pumpkin, anything that was fun and Halloweenish (and full of veggies). My mom was the greatest at putting together Halloween costumes!

I would love to see your Halloween decorations.

Kristi, I very much share your love for Halloween. It is my favorite holiday to decorate for. I have a collection of witches, actually. I am always on the lookout for cute, fun ones.

Our tradition is to grow our pumpkins at my moms (I've posted some pics on recent blogs), and I think I'm going to start doing a Halloween party as the kids get older. It's just so fun. I love the Pottery Barn stuff and Target etc as well. FUN.

One tradition we have is making Halloween pillowcases -- There are always fun Halloween fabrics! We get the cases out on the first of October!

Love Halloween- my mom and aunts have an online costume company so it is cool to have them as a resource to make cool costumes. Our family always has a huge party the week before with a costume contest, candy corn spitting contest, chili cook off, three leg races, cauldron root beer, pumpkin carving contest, halloween treat contest etc. It is a highly anticipated event for sure. I can't wait this year because Mya might actually get in on it a little more and go trick or treating this year.

I found the Country Living Halloween book at TJMaxx for 2.99 yesterday! They have a great recipe for Witches Brew punch, its just juices and gingerale but it looks tasty and its this cool dark purple almost black color. I will post the recipe!

You do love Halloween K, and you live in the PERFECT neighborhood to do a great party in that circle park area right in front of your house!

i love halloween. love it. perhaps it has something to do with my love of fall. our traditions are pretty basic...though the girls love trick or treating with their cousins.

I guess I have mixed feelings about Halloween. As a kid, I yearned for a "real" Halloween costume, e.g. some elaborate Renaissance princess or something. But my mom couldn't stand Halloween, so I usually ended up scrounging something together like a hobo or a ghost or whatever.

So as a mom, I try to make sure my kids get cool costumes. I have sewn several for Max, but as I am not a great seamstress, it really ends up stressing me out. Lucas has worn the hand-me-down ones that I made, and I have also bought him some. We'll see about Eva!

I do like to decorate for Halloween. Especially anything with black glitter! I just love to have an excuse to have black glitter.
