Card Making, too bad they are
not my Christmas cards...

I have had a few people ask me how I made the cards for Annie Kate's baptism so here ya go.
I had a silhouette cut of Annie Kate wearing her baptism dress (not that anyone would recognize that..) I had it made by Deborah O'Connor in NY. You can contact her here and do everything through email. She is very fast and very detailed. silhouetteartist.net. She did a wonderful job and it will be a treasure. I had her cut two extras to give one to each of the grandparents to thank them for coming out for AK's baptism.

I scanned the silhouette and printed it with the text in my favorite, easy cheesy Scrapbook Factory Deluxe program, that you can get at Costco. I was able to get two per page.
I used my die cut machine to cut out of black paper the scalloped oval cut. I then ran those through the xyron machine with a sticker cartridge. Two products which I use often and love.
Sizzix die cut machine you can see here, but if you are buying new I would buy this machine.The black cardstock was 5.5" x 8.5" and the white cardstock was cut 4.75" by 8.5" then I used the scalloped blade on my paper cutter to give the scalloped border on the bottom. I don't think you can this long of an exact cut with the scalloped scissors, it is worth buying the blade for the paper cutter.These are the thank you notes that I made and I printed these on blue construction paper because even though flimsy, I love how soft the paper is. I used the scanned silhouette and then a scalloped graphic that matched the die cut.


So the other day at the store when I saw the above article, I became so sad I did not discover these two weeks earlier. They are custom made cookie cutters with your child's silhouette. These would have been the perfect cookie to have at the baptism. So I had to share this source in case you use the silhouette idea for your child's birthday or event. this is the Holiday Magazine I picked up and if you see it, get it! It has great ideas as well as all the resources of where to get everything. They do 4 articles and then site the sources and directions. Another 4 articles and such. It is really great and has some darling Christmas ideas. It is done Matthew Meade a brilliant designer. You should see what he did with my favorite snowball treat. If you have a minute glance at his site, he has some printable tags and great ideas and some great secret sources.
