I am a magazine gal

I have a harder time walking past a good magazine at the check out than I do a Snickers bar. The best kind of magazines to buy for creative give aways, floral arranging and stationery is Wedding ones. Once you get married who thinks to buy a wedding magazine?

The other day I bought Best of Weddings from the Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collection. These are always good magazines to pick up.

Here are a few things I had to share that I loved and don't want to forget.

This gives a whole new meaning to the wedding quilt. I loved this idea of making a canopy with it. You could even do this at a outdoor birthday part with a fun sheet, but is this quilt not so beautiful.

This picture is why I bought the magazine. I love, love silhouettes and the thought of using them at birthday parties or at a wedding is so beautiful.

the Pink and Green bridal shower was a great article too. These single serving cakes are so amazing. But do you notice what kind of plate it is on. It is a mini Candlewick plate. If you ever see these and like them pick them up. They are hard to find and so awesome. I have never seen ones so small.

RESOURCES

Then the last thing that is great about wedding magazines are the resources. After I buy any magazine I will site down one night and go through the resources and try almost all of the websites that are listed. Many times these are new companies trying to get their name out so you can new things you have not seen before and they may be cheaper because they have not been truly discovered yet.

So here are just a few sources I found you might like.

Mountain Cow. Stationery Website and they have software too. Great site!

Beaucoup. Wedding favors if you love your initial or monogram don't miss this one.

Hammonds Candies. Beautiful candies and suckers. Great for Valentines day

The magazine that I think has the best resources is Mary Engelbriet Home Companion.
so the next time you debate spending $7.00 for a magazine think about all the resources you could bet getting and endless ideas.

I love wedding magazines. When I was first married my obsession with them made Darin a bit uncomfortable. He felt like I was unhappy with our wedding and was planning and re planning my own wedding. I assured him that I love weddings and parties whether they were my own or not.

What a great idea, Kristi! I love magazines too and am always drawn to the beautiful covers, but I don't think I've bought a wedding magazine since I got married. Looks like I've been missing out on some good stuff.

Ever since I started quilting I have wanted to make a two-color quilt (white + one color), but I have never been able to restrict myself once I get in the fabric shop! Beautiful.

Actually, I am with you, Kristi--I have had a subscription to Martha Stewart's Weddings magazine ever since it came out in 1996. And I've been married for nine of those years!!! I agree--it's the BEST place for creative ideas for parties of any kind. I LOVE looking through those over and over again. I never throw one away. See, I keep saying it, but you are a girl after my own heart. I love all of your great ideas!! You are such an inspiration!!

You know my life long addiction to magazines. Thanks for sharing. I'm loving the SNAP thing. Gotta set that on up.

I just saw this the other night at Joann's and almost picked it up, but I didn't... I had a cart full of other goodies to pay for. I will definitely be going back for this. I love wedding magazines. I am not a wedding person really - I didn't even want to have my own. But, I love the ideas. I have years and years of back issues of MS Weddings and use them all the time for inspiration for invitations and programs.

I LOVE it that you share your ideas & inspirations. Seriously. I'm a magazine fanatic, also. Right now I pore through every wedding mag I see because I'm making my first wedding cake in March. There's so much creativity to be found!

Thank you for sharing. I'm a magazine girl too, but usually don't stop to look at wedding mags. Maybe I should.

Interesting idea. That's what creative people do is see things in different ways from the intended use. I enjoy looking through other people's magazines, but I get overwhelmed with the all the information and how I am supposed to store them. So thanks for doing the work for us! :)

I also have trouble passing up magazines. I would like to have a subscription to most of them, but I love buying them at the store while waiting in line.

Wow. I didn't even get wedding magazines when I was getting married. I could probably have used the help.

I love the mini-cakes for bridal showers. I have done it a couple times for friends and it is always so much fun.

COOL post! I love the ideas! I am a huge magazine junkie too!

I do have to add that I have all the software from Mountaincow and I am not a fan. Personally I don't think it is very user friendly and it makes my brain freeze LOL!! I had the first one edition and then I bought the new extreme edition off ebay for 1/2 price. I was bummed that I still could not make it perfom magic either. Of course.. this is MY opinion and for what it is worth!!
The beaucoup site is distracting me now so I must go look...

I would never think to buy a wedding magazine to tweak the idea for something else. This is another one of your brilliant ideas. I tend to avoid wedding magazines because they bring up my issues with my lame wedding, but maybe I could rise above it one of these days.

We have Hammond's Candies here in Denver, it is headquartered here and my kids and I have taken a tour of it several times. It's a lot of fun!! And the Candy is yummy too!

The quilt and the cake with the ribbons are killing me. I love magazines, too.
