Paper Clips

I watched the movie Paper Clips yesterday and just have to give it a plug. I may be the last person on the planet who has heard of it, but in case I am not.

here is the link to netflix the movie Paper Clips.
Link to the movie trailer.
It is so worth your time. It is about a small school in a small town in Tennessee who started a project to collect 6 million paper clips to represent each person who died in the Holocaust. It will teach you about tolerance, prejudice and the reason they picked the paper clip to me was a wonderful story to learn. If I was still in Tennessee I would love to go visit the memorial this school built. I won't tell you what they made it out of to hold all the paper clips to keep anyone in suspense, it is a wonderful documentary!
My favorite line of the the movie was the principal who said after this project she learned that she
never wants to be an instrument for pain for anyone.

I've just watched the trailer for this on YouTube and it was enough to make me order it straightaway from Amazon. I got the last Region 2 (Europe) copy they had, and it was reduced from £19.99 to £8.97! Hurrah!

It looks fabulous. Not only in terms of its place in teaching us to remember our history and learn from it, but also as an awesome example of organisation and co-operation between people to achieve something. I think ppl at our church will find it very inspiring, and we'd never have heard of this but for you and your pinkie blog, Kristi! Thanks!

I saw something on tv about this a few years ago, but not the full movie. Thanks for reminding us about it.

What a great quote. I never want to be an instrument of pain either. Sounds like a good goal!

-Maybe you were the second to last person who has heard of it-
I actually think I remember the project hitting the news (in '99, was it?)but sometimes I create deja vu for myself, so I'm not sure.
Anyways, I've been pretty immersed in learning about the holocaust since my daughter was in a school play about it, and I remembered your plug here, so I borrowed it and I loved it! My husband does not understand why I rent things that make me cry, but that's because he doesn't understand there is such a thing as a good cry, I guess.
Thanks for the movie recommendation!
