Someone busier than you is ....

Nike has a new ad out this is so wonderful and got me thinking.
The ad says;
Someone busier than you is running right now.
So what are you waiting for
get out there and pound the pavement

Last night I didn't go to the gym because I said I was too busy. Is the Nike company tapping into my thoughts?
This got me thinking about this concept of not doing something we want to do our should do because we say we are too busy. For years I said I could not run or find the time because I was too busy or had small kids or Jeff was not home. I often hear "oh I would love to blog or keep a journal but I am too busy"
I started to think of a few things along these same lines...

  • Someone busier than you is doing service right now, what are you waiting for?
  • Someone with less money than you is giving to charity right now, what are you waiting for?
  • Someone busier than you is reading to their small children, what are you waiting for?
  • Someone busier than you is going to church, what are you waiting for?
  • Someone busier than you is taking the time for themselves, what are you waiting for?
  • Someone busier than you is cleaning their home, what are you waiting for?
  • Someone busier than you is making a home cooked meal for the family or someone else, what are you waiting for?

This ad has really got me thinking!

I so needed this this morning - thanks for posting your thoughts. I am a huge "I'm too busy" person and to be honest it's a pretty lame excuse. I am going to type up the Nike thought and put it up in my home - thanks for the kick in the pants.

Wow! This is so true... Having these thoughts a lot lately, really it's all about priorities. If its important, then I will make time to do it. There is a peace that comes from accomplishing tasks no mater how big or small they are when we know they are for the good of others or ourselves. Thanks for this post Kristi!

It really is all about priorities, isn't it.

For years, I have given excuses about not running. I have run out of excuses. So, guess who was out pounding the payment at 7am this morning. :)

That should say PAVEMENT, not PAYMENT.

You can see where MY priorities are, huh! ROFL!! :P

It always motivates me that President Bush makes time to run. Talk about someone busier than me!

It's interesting to me that we can all find time to do the things we REALLY want to do. I loved this post -- thank you!

It all is a balancing act...and sometimes priorities shift. We need those reminders to check "our act"-Is it time to change?

Ditto. I think that is a great reminder. We ALL need to get up and do something!

I should not have read this post...it's making me feel horribly guilty. Do homecooked rice crispy treats with chocolate goodness on top qualify as a meal? ;)

I DO love that ad though! I read a bunch of the little thoughts that pop up if you move the second hand. Very cool!!

I think it is true that we find time to do the things we really want to do - I guess the question becomes how do we learn to "want" to do some of the things we know we could be doing but aren't!

P.S. Kristi, I just blogged about a friend's business that you might want to highlight (she's both local and amazing).

I totally need this perspective today and at this time in my life! I always tell my kids, someone will always have life better than them and someone will always have life worse. What is important is to live the life you do have to it's fullest.

I get caught up in "stuff" easily and I tend to say "yes" too frequently. I read somewhere that you should keep a list of what is important and when faced with making a decision about using your time compare it to that list...will it improve my mental/spiritual health, enrich my children's lives, make my marriage stronger, make me smile, etc. And if it hits your list, you will find the time.

What a great ad. I totally believe that we make time for the things we REALLY want to do, the things you listed are definitely a matter of priorities. I feel this way about good mail too, especially Just Because Wednesday because it's a matter of taking the time to do it, not making the time!

smell of smoke
from wood burning stoves

ripe red apples,
crushed black cloves

crunchy leaves of brown and gold
pumpkins bigger than I can hold

spookiest masks I’ve ever seen—
something’s coming –
Halloween

Have fun! Kim Sue

Hi there. You don't know me. I'm Ashley's sis-in-law and Lenessa's friend. I saw this post and had to comment. For the Nike Women's half on Oct 21st, we got those same little clocks, but with a "Gone running, will return at" sign on it. I use it every morning now instead of writing on my mirror with a dry-erase marker. I love it! Oh, and congrats on the marathon! I ran my first in 6:16, so I feel your pain. But 2 years later I ran my second after much more training and I ran a 4:44! Keep it up!
