80's flashback.
Last night my friend emailed a few of us to compile a list of 80's songs for a youth dance she is putting together. Within about 2 hours this was the list that was compiled. Just reading through these songs brought back so many memories. I had to add my favorite church dance song video above. Are their any great 80's songs missing on the list? I didn't see any Haircut 100 on the list - you need a little Love Plus One.

You're missing my hands down favorite 80's song...The Promise by When In Rome, and then there's the other song that starts off with a dial tone and some "aaaah's"? I have no idea what it's called, but it's AWESOME! I need to find my CD titled "The best 80's album EVER!" and burn you a copy. It is literally THE best 80's album ever, and I'm not just saying that because i created it. ;)

ok, that may be the dumbest video ever made! how did we just die over stuff like that? i feel OLD! but as far as i'm concerned, journey is on your list and that's all that matters!

You've got to have Take On Me by A-Ha -- did I miss that on your list? Ah, that was my song with the cutest Italian boy...

Did you have any Squeeze on there? Tempted, for example?

I LOVE Nik Kershaw!

It kind of makes my heart hurt a little bit to think of all these songs.

Randy bought the 80's Sing Star cd for our ps2 so we've been singing a bunch of these songs.

Wow! I feel a sudden urge to perm my hair, raise my bangs up to Jesus and pile on some bangle bracelets. Oh and wear too much eye make-up that matches my stirrup pants and big, droopy sweater.

Great, great list!!

love that comment about the bangs and the stirrup pants! haha. I was thinking- we built this city on rock and roll- not sure the title or the group- maybe you had it! too fun!

How about some Adam Ant?
Your list is great....I am going to download some of it to go with my other 80's stuff....
I love T'Pau too!
My husband was a dj for 10 years, I will have to check with him on others....he can really pull stuff out of the woodwork! :)

Hilarious! I think it is a little sad that they are now doing 80's parties as if they were so long ago. Next thing you know, these songs will be playing on the oldies stations.

I think the only song it is missing is Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and I completely agree with Michelle about "Take on Me"

I had a friend that I argued with forever about how he thought Civilization as we knew it was almost destroyed because of 80's music.

I always defended the 80's music because I thought one of the lines in that song was "Everybody shake your pants" and I never thought to see a midget rocking out on a Ukulele or Lute or whatever that was. Well now that I saw that video and have come to know that Eurasure is about gay guys doing... stuff, I am more inclined to agree with him.

What were we thinking back then?

Those are the best!! The music today doesn't even touch that list! I don't care what the kids say. haha :D 80's music is the best.

Eeeeuuuuwwwww! That song makes me cringe, Kristi! I can't stand it. Any of it. It's all an assault on the senses. Schtopp it!

Have you not got any Banananananananarama on that list? Got to have those trendy girls on, with their slouchy dungarees, messy hair and stroppy pouts.

Amanda :-) said...

Aha, Carlo's just said Bananananana. So great minds think alike, obviously!

Not sure about Chris de Burgh, though, Carlo. I will pretend I didn't see that...*slides pretend specs up bridge of nose*

This is such a great list! I'm planning on throwing an 80's inspired birthday part for a friend. This will be perfect for background music and karaoke.
