Pace
I am not doing a very good job with my word of the year today. It is rainy and cold and just too dreary for me to go outside. I also don't have the energy to put the girls in their car seats. So my stay home and do nothing day consisted of me making "Allison's Yummy Sugar cookies" I can still remember calling her in New Orleans after she brought these to a baby shower and could not sleep until I got the recipe. they are full proof and so amazing.
I let the two little girls practice how to crack an egg and then they made potion with flour, sugar and salt. they had the time of their life.
I also worked on getting the job chart done for the girls that is spinning around in my head
then i made my other full proof recipe of homemade pretzels. We make these about once a week ever since Annie Kate learned to make these for A'days (her age group church group). They are so amazing and if you are the type that like to buy pretzels off the street - you would love these. Will post recipe later.
then I decided to tackle the only closet on the main floor of our ultra tall skinny home. I decided winter is over today, even though the weather man told me it will snow this weekend, i didn't listen. I packed up all the scarves and gloves and most of the coats and put them in the basement. The black boxes on the wall are the bests thing IKEA sells. These pull out storage boxes which is where we all store out shoes. I got so tired of no one knowing whose box is whose, I put their names along with their photos.

so my quiet do nothing day made me want to go to bed by 6:00 pm.

The cookies and pretzels look so good! Sounds like your girls had a great day, even if it tired you out. If this is your do-nothing day, I'm glad you can't peek into my house...

I can relate to this day. I stayed home all day too. Made a new cookie recipe and ate a dozen myself. Didn't clean or organize anything, sadly.

Based on personal experience, you may have single handedly brought on a snowstorm to your fine city by packing away the winter gear!
I am loving your mini-me's for your girls' chore chart, can't wait to see it done.

If that is your "do nothing" day then I have a lot to do to improve on my "do something" days! I too want to see the finished chore charts.

Oh yeah. You stayed home and did NOTHING.

And now I have another job chart complex. Thanks. Just when I was feeling good about the idea swimming around in MY head.

Actually, though, it's an idea I swiped from Stie--another blogger who's queen of organization.

I've been doing the same thing. I am in a spring cleaning frenzy, as though it will make spring get here faster. I told Dave no matter what, we are putting the swing set up on April 1 and even if we have to wear coats and gloves we will be playing outside!

Those sugar cookies are delicious, aren't they?

Those cookies look great! We made pretzels yesterday as well- please do post your recipe as we are still on the search for a good one.

I am done with winter too and just packed away our winter gear and think I jinxed it since it might snow today. I don't care! It is spring as far as I am concerned!

I am also battling the weather doldrums. I am tired of cold weather. I want to wear sandals. I want the kids to be able to play in the sandbox.
I look forward to your job chart. I need something around here, but the ones I am finding are just too old for my girls.
Please share the pretzel recipe. That would be great to do with the girls!

I love day like that, where you stay at home & are so productive! Be sure & post that pretzel recipe...I'm the activity days leader and could always use a fun idea!

I have been mulling over a job chart, let us know what you come up with!

I think you've done well to sort out little, niggly things like messy shoes. It's sort of like 'baby steps' in the home. More of these, and it'll all come together in a complete domestic life of bliss! Ahhhhh! (Our shoe rack is a fright, by the way)

Those Sizzix figures are hilarious. AK's looks just like her!

It doesn't sound like you spent the day doing nothing. It sounds like you did quite alot! I think rainy days are meant to be spent inside relaxing.

I love doing job charts, coupons, incentives, etc. WOuld love to see your finished product. And thanks in advance for the pretzel recipe. Yum!

Loved your SPT. I have benefited from many of your ideas and thoroughly enjoyed implementing them on my level. I love it when someone with so many ideas and talents so willingly and freely shares them. Thank you!

Sounds like your rainy dreary day turned out to be rather DREAMY! My boys and I are planning on making pretzels today, Sunday (my first time), so I am hoping your recipe goes up super soon!!!! They look lovely!

Thanks for the IKEA tip - I am always on the prowl for new, creative, yet easy, organizing ideas. And I must say, your little girl cutouts that resemble some familiar faces :) have peaked my interests. I have not seen a job chart quite like it!!! Hope you'll spill a little more of your creative genius in that area, too!!!! :)
