SPT - the number 8

Today after I picked up the girls from school we went to Goodwill and I told them to each find something green for us to buy. Caroline picked out the $.99 cent green glass vase and Sally Jane found the $1.99 green metal tea pot. It was perfect because together they look just like the number 8.
I am so glad I came up with using my goodwill finds other wise I was going to have to use the above photo of me wearing Jeff's military glasses (BCG's) and that would have been embarrassing.

Any one know what the BCG stands for?
It is the perfect nickname for the Military issue glasses

Birth Control Glasses is what the cadets at the Air Force Academy and West Point call them! I think it's Battle Combat something or other(hmmm...no that's redundant, so that's not right either).

I love your eights! Those glasses are funny...how clever to tip them sideways.

Hey, we're coming to DC in May!

I LOVE the finds at GW, that tea pot made me gasp, such a cute color!

I am going to second Jane, Birth Control Glasses. That is the only thing I have ever heard them called :)

I found that exact same green pot (and an orange one at Goodwill) although I have been using my for fondue not tea - I hadn't even consider it being a tea pot. Funny how we can all look at things so differently.

Love that pot, you do find some great things. Love how you turn them into the 8. The glasses are very stylish. No clue on the BCG's but I like the birth control glasses, that is funny!

You are so clever, Kristi. Notice I have just been skipping these spts altogether.

Birth control glasses!! That made me laugh! My hubby was air force for a while...

Made your ever so cute shamrocks out of dough and the kids LOVED them! We didn't use enough green food coloring so we painted them and them added some mod podge on top of that. Oh so cute!!

You are a creative genius! Not only did you manage to come up with another 8 is great post but it's green!!!!!

I bagged this SPT again this week--I was too busy incorporating your cute st. pat's ideas into my day--and I'm plain tuckered out! I decided against short sheeting my kids sheets (they're still too young to "get it" I think and it would be kind of like shooting myself in the foot (as I would end up having to remake the bed myself anyway!)

Love your good will finds! Living in the east rocks when it comes to cool thrift shops! Did I mention the ones in Cape Cod? Talk about great finds!

I love the brown transfer plates you gave Michelle! You have such excellent taste!

You're so clever. I am skipping this month's SPTs because I am just not clever enough and am mad about it.

The only thing I have ever heard them called is Birth Control glasses. I just looked it up- there is no other meaning. It was a slang term to mean just that. It is not an acronym given by the military. Things you learn each day!

Yep -Birth Control Glasses -- no one would be attracted to anyone with those glasses on or so the Internet reports. LOL

So funny! I also have always heard them called birth control glasses. The marine corps versions are black - even more attractive!
Love the pot you found - I agree with the other poster - it is a fondue pot. It is missing the burner unit it used to sit on, though. I have a lovely retro one in a mustard color!
this one is kind of like mine - http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-MINT-NEW-IN-BOX-OSTER-ELECTRIC-FONDUE-POT-SET_W0QQitemZ250390478052QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSmall_Kitchen_Appliances_US?hash=item250390478052&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

Birth Control Glasses is what my husband's Army Unit called them! It was so fitting because those who wore them were instantly a turn off...no matter how cute they were otherwise! My husband has a pair, because I think if you have a vision issue, you automatically get a pair. They are hilarious:)
