Well it is official - today at 12:32 pm MST we bought a house! Our new house in the West.

I have kind of always thought I should have been a pioneer woman and made the trek out West to settle and thought I was born 160 years later than I was supposed to. So I guess my 3.5 hour plane ride from D.C. will be my trek out west. (pathetic)

Thanks to the power of attorney Jeff signed our life away for our new Casa while I spent the afternoon home waiting for his phone call that it is done.

Last night our ward had a open house for one missionary who came home and two families who were moving. (we were one of the families)
I didn't even bring my camera! The thought of it being the end was kind of too much. I am so stinkin emotional. I found myself standing on the out skirts of over 100 people talking, laughing, more talking and more laughing. It felt like the night was in slow motion. I kept thinking to myself, "so much for not planting any roots here and keeping my heart to myself."
I feel like the end of the book The Giving Tree, where the tree is just a big, fat stump and it has given all of it's self away. I don't know if I have any heart left to take with me to the west because I feel like all 2 ventricles are here, 1 is swimming in Nashville and one drying out in New Orleans. (which by the way if you live around here, get flood insurance! Every place I move from gets drenched once I leave)

So, MOVING STINKS. There is just no way around it. If you meet anyone who has just moved near you or into your church congregation just jump out of your comfort zone and HUG the guts out of them, because they need it.
I feel like I am now living in two worlds. Trying to pick paint colors for the house but still planning what the Youth group will be doing on Wednesday night. Getting my kids into the new elementary school but helping get the class gift for the teacher here. Trying to find a cute young boy to the mow the lawn at our new home while I am power washing the deck here (only because I want every dime of our deposit back)

So, I am off for a week of spinning wheels and using up all the Kleenex in my house. The crazy thing is that I would not do it any other way but to jump all in.

What an exciting, yet somewhat daunting experience!!! We are thrilled to have you closer, mike is in Denver now at least once a month!! I can't think of anyone that makes friends faster than you, so I know although hard, the transition will go smoothly. Good luck these next few weeks, saying goodbye is so hard!!

Mixed emotions! I can totally relate!! So exciting on one hand - and super sad on the other.
Hate to leave 'your perfect' corner of the world...(so much to miss!!!)
Growth comes from change. I suppose that is why we are constantly growing!

YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS!

Congrats on closing on your new home in the west!!! I can't wait to see pictures once you are all settled.

I definitely know how hard it is to move. So I try to make anyone new at church feel welcome and loved. I hope someone does this for you! But don't wait for them too, just jump in there and make friends!

You can either feel sorry and sad for what you lost - - or smile and laugh at all that you had!

Let your tears come from the joy of touching and being touched by others, from kindnesses shown and kindnesses received.

Pink, you just have to show up, flash that smile, laugh that laugh, and all is right with the world!

Your new neighbors have no idea of the force of nature (and boxes of ribbon!) that just moved onto the block - - that neighborhood will never be the same!!!

Who says that the sky is the limit, when there are footprints on the moon? And you, my friend, are the astronaut whose capacity for joy, kindness, compassion, generosity and enthusiasm is out of this world!!!

God is sending you, Dr. Pink, and the Pinkettes trekking across our country so that we can all feel His grace and blessings through his children!

Congratulations on closing on your house, how exciting!!!

I can't imagine you NOT putting down roots or giving your heart away, what fun would that be? You're so fortunate to have met so many amazing people everywhere you have lived, and no you're onto to Denver where there will be more to meet!

Congrats on being a new home owner! I just know you're going to love Colorado and all of it's beauty. I can't wait to see pictures of your new home and neighborhood! So excited and happy for you!

We're headed to CO in June for vacation and taking along things to put in storage there. Hopefully our move won't be too far behind yours!

What area did you finally decide on?

I've been thinking about you lately, knowing that your move is close. Did you ever find a swim team? What area did you decide on? I know that you were thinking about Highlands Ranch, but I noticed in another post that you were looking other places. There are many wonderful places here. Please, please, please let me know how I can help!! Moving is my specialty. We have done it a lot and it is never fun. Good luck with everything and keep in touch. :) jenni@thecoberlys.com

One chapter closes and another opens. Change is never all that easy, but new and exciting adventures await you and you will find new friends waiting for you. How lucky they are!

Of course you put down roots and gave your heart away! Your years in D.C. would have been pretty miserable if you hadn't.

I just know that your heart will grow bigger when you leave part of it behind, and you will have plenty of love for your new home and neighbors and ward!!

(But you're right, moving stinks. Just go back and read your awesome posts about moving when you need a lift.)

moving stinks. the end.

but what kind of life would it be if you didn't live it full hearted? of course you do! and you and the people you've touched are better for it.

those people in denver don't have any idea how lucky they are! the people who live next door should be doing a big happy dance in their kitchen tonight. :)

good luck with everything.
