Dear United States Army,

Today is my husbands last day as serving active duty in the Army.
I just wanted to thank you for paying for my husband to go to Medical school. When the only school he got into was a private school we had no idea how we would pay for it, so thank you for doing that.
You will be happy to know that Major Cutler loves what he does and is one of the best in his field. (he would never say that but that is just what I hear from his colleges) .
Thank you for giving him the chance to serve the soldiers of Walter Reed Army Medical Center. You put him in the right spot. During his time there he saw and heard many stories that would have crushed many to tears and unable to do their job. He never lost his "head" as he would spend time rebuilding many who actually did.
We totally took advantage of living in D.C. and covered every square inch.
My three girls will be forever changed for the experience they had in watching their Dad wear a uniform to work, understand the war a little more and the answers to questions they would always have after visiting him at work.
There is no place else like Walter Reed. Military service men and women are some of the most patient patients! I would watch many of them sit for hours and hours waiting for care and never complain. Line after line to get in, to be seen, to get medications etc. It is not fancy and it is old.
You don't spend 10 minutes on Walter Reed campus and not see the physical effects of the war on so many. These men and women are so strong and that is not because their arms are now doing all the work to get themselves around.Thank you for giving Jeff the chance to work with the staff at the White House. He will treasure those he met and the things he saw while there.

Thank you also for giving us the opportunity to go to Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Gibraltar. We will never be the same. We loved flying on your cargo air craft, it was always the best part of the trip. Your pilots were always so nice and accommodating.
Because of our time in the military I will always hang the US flag. I will always think of these past 4 years and how it changed our family whenever I hear the National Anthem. (and I am sure I will by crying at the same time)
We will miss pulling out our military ID when going to the movies, Home Depot, Lowes and almost any other major retailer who gave us great discounts, when we got to spend 2 minutes talking about our great experience in the Military and I was always proud to say that my husband is (now was) in the Army.
Thank you again for all that you have given our family. We originally signed up for the money, but what you have given us in priceless!

Sincerely and Thank You,

Everything Pink!!

p.s. have you thought of adding a touch of Pink to the Uniforms, I say everyone looks good in a little pink!

Lovely thoughts!

Hope you are getting settled in Denver - -we were there years ago and it's where my cute husband grew up so we have a soft spot for it. But moving is hard.

What a great post! I was a bit weepy thinking about all those that serve! What an amazing experience your family has had!
I love that you live large. You take advantage of all that is offered - the area in which you live, the discounts, the vacation opportunities, the areas to serve and bless others!
YOU left feeling enriched and loved. I am sure that everyone there at the Hospital and your ward and neighborhood misses your family and its influence!!!
Thank you for your service, Major Cutler and FAMILY!!!

Great post. Thank you Dr. Jeff for you service. It forever changed your lives and has affected mine as well. When I see a soldier in uniform I am touched more deeply and feel a quiet reverence for the freedoms I enjoy because of sacrifices made. Good luck as you begin this next phase and may you all be blessed.

Thank you for writing that. My husband served in the air force and I feel the same as you. The military took care of us and we have very fond memories. I wish more people will take advantage of the opportunity. I've seen great things happen.
