Annie Kate and I stayed up last night as long as we could to watch the National Spelling bee. It was on ABC primetime. We had trouble turning it off at 10:00 pm because we could not stop watching. 13 year old Evan M. O'Dorney won with the word "serrefine" - a clamp used during surgery. This kid is amazing!
*** interesting blogging didn't reconize the serrefine saying it was mispelled. Even blogger dictionary could not win the National Spelling Bee.
I found myself a little hooked on it earlier in the day! How funny of Annie Kate to mimic when going over her words!

ReplyDeleteThese always amaze me and quite often, I am out by round 4. That is so dang funny about Annie Kate and her words this morning! Darling!
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch that show, but I saw that it was on. I think it's cool they're televising it on a regular station. Those kids are amazing.
ReplyDeleteHow cute that Annie Kate kept asking for the definition, maybe it will inspire her with her spelling. When does she get out of school?
jill. not for two more weeks! ouch! it is hot here and in school double whammy.
ReplyDeleteI read about him winning on yahoo news last night. When I was in 8th grade I took 3rd at the State Spelling Bee. I love to spell but some of those words that he had to spell I've never even heard of. It was pretty easy 15 years ago. The word I missed was champaigne because I put an 'i' in it. I still spell it wrong obviously. My little trophy was a large statue of a bee holding an award. I had it until we dejunked before we moved.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I love that you said even Blogger spell check couldn't win the National Spelling Bee! Not even close. I love it when those kids know words I've never even heard of.
