Our other Halloween tradition, which I am sure is everyone elses, is spooking. We try to do it as early in the month as possible. here is our poem that we use (little different than in years past)
Poem. If you want to use it you should be able to right click on it and then save it on your computer and then print it. Here is our new ghost to leave on their door. I loved it and could not find the one we have used in the past. you can save & print this too if you want to use it.
We went to 4 families tonight. Hunters, Carson's family, Stanfords and Alex's house. We always bring a white sheet to run away in (great idea from my friend Jennifer R.) but no one ever wants to wear it for saftey reasons, it gets tangled in your legs.
Caroline did two houses and was a total crack up running away from the house. The last house she fell hard and skinned her knee. Ouch.
I love this tradition and even noticed this year at Target you can buy a spooking kit.
Happy Spooking. Have you been spooked yet?

We love to do this too...In fact, we did it last night...so fun!
How cute, I remember doing a “Halloween Ghost” growing up, but haven't heard on the tradition here (I guess it's hard when everyone lives in apartments).
Maybe we will have to be the ones to start it.
We do it too! Angie posted about ours the other day.
oh we got the Phantom last night. I went to Target today and got stuff for Monster Mash )popcorm, pretzles, good and plenty, candy corn, m&ms and gummy worms). The kids and I tossed it all together in a big rubbermade bowl and put stickers all over it and wrote in "monster handwriting" what is was on top. I delivered them tonight but I did not ring the doorbell. our kids were in bed last night when our bell was wrung and so i wasn't real thrilled with that. so, since mine was not perishable and sealed... i just dropped it at the door. the kids were pretty excited about it.
We did that in our last ward (Amie's neighborhood) and thought it was fun, but no one has done it so far in this area, it looks like we're going to have to start it. Very cute!
My kids would love this...I have seen the ghost around our neighborhood in past years but not yet this year... thanks for the good ideas.
i love all of your tradition ideas. i think traditions are what make families special and bonded in a way that nothing else can.
can i pick your creative mind? my little guy wants to be a ghost for halloween? do you have any creative ideas for a costume other than throwing a sheet over him?
Crystalyn,
i am not sure how you would do it. but the first thing that comes to mind is buying that muslin/white mesh like stuff ( i know you can buy it at Walmart in their fabric section for like $.20 a yard) and putting that on top of the sheet it would give the sheet more texture.
or buying a white sweat suit and doing iron lables or embroidery "Ghost" on it.
or dressing up like patrick swayze from the movie ghost... now that actually could be funny. no one would get it, but it would be funny.
i will let you know if i have any more ideas.
I've been meaning to drive around my neighborhood to see if anyone's started spookingt yet. If not, I want to start asap! It's so much fun!
We have been planning to "Boo" someone this week. I don't know who else does this in the ward. I thought I would make a big ghost to go with it like the Target kit.
This is such a fun thing to do. We did this in our old neighborhood. I was thinking about doing it here as well. The girls always love it!
I saw the kit at Target today and thought it was a great idea. Then, I see practically everyone is doing it! Have I been living under a rock? I can't wait to try it!
I do love Halloween too!!!
Thanks for the reminder of this great tradtion. Another fun activity we have done in the past is we have gone "Halloween Caroling"!!! Some fabulous person took some fun Spooky songs and put them to Christmas tunes, it's soooo fun to see suprised faces when they answer the door, we also bring them some little spooky goodies!!!
No one seems to do this in our neighborhood, maybe we should start. It sounds like something my kids would get excited about for sure.
