Birthday Party

Last night I went to a fun idea for a birthday party. A few girls in our church congregation had a birthday this week. So one of them threw a party for them all. She used Evite which is such a wonderful way to invite a large group of people. (we used it last year for our annual blog party, are you coming?)

Everyone brought a birthday gift, but everyone left home with one. We took a quiz about the birthday girls and depending on how many answers you got right put in you position for the game. The person who got the most right was the last person to pick, which meant they got to pick any gift.I got the least amount of answers right and so I got/had to pick first. I picked the BEST gift. It was wrapped in a Nordstrom box and was a awesome pair of Sunglasses. I made the mistake of putting them on and wearing them, showing how much I loved them.
I made it near the end of the game with no stealing and then one of the birthday girls took- STOLE them from me! I was so sad, but since the party was for her how could I feel bad. I ended up with an awesome assortment of Bath and Body supplies!
I had brought some Very Bradley items in the new Peacock color scheme. And the girl who got it, it matched perfect for. After my glasses got taken, I was even tempted to pick that because I loved it so much!
It was a great night and fun to see everyone from my other ward for a night. Our new calling downtown in a way is socially cutting us off a bit. So, I always love having a reason for everyone to get together.
As I posted this picture of the four women above. I got a little teary. These four women are AMAZING! All with different trials, strengths, talents and gifts. The photo could tell so many stories. I am so lucky to have met them. The one second in from the left is the Stake Young Women's president. I stayed afterwards and talked with her for half an hour about our ward downtown. We both were in tears. She gave me some great advice, as did many of you who really took the time to comment after our last Sunday.

That's a cute idea and a great excuse to have a gathering with the girls. Were all the gifts pretty good? Those sunglasses and your Vera Bradley stuff look great. I'm glad you're still able to get together and feel included with your other ward friends.

Yep, I was first to comment.

Is it just me being a bit groggy, or is this birthday game a bit complicated? LOL

I'd be messing it up completely if I was part of it. You'd be hitting me over the head with the presents!

Love the Vera Bradley peacock colours, and the little cakes with candles. So diddy!

Typical women, though, finishing up a birthday party with a bit of crying! Glad you got time to talk.

What a fun idea! I am always looking for a good excuse to get a girls night going. Love the glasses, so sorry they were taken from you, you look like a HOT MAMA in them!! But I would be happy they went to the actual birthday girl.

That is a great idea. Especially when there are a lot of birthday's at once. I am so glad you have women to draw strength from in your endeavors.

i love evite and the bday party sounds amazing.

as for the blog party: it hurts my heart to say that I can't be there due to the date. it probably sounds crazy, but it really does hurt my heart.

Kristi, this was a great idea for a birthday party. Calvin and I went to a birthday party a few months ago for an 87 year old man and he brought all of us a gift that he'd made. It was the sweetest thing.

Stake callings do isolate you, I'm so glad your home ward is looking out for you.

Sorry I didn't comment on your dilemma Sunday, I've been thinking about it off and on all week. Each time I come up with a suggestion I think, "Nope, I'll bet she's already tried that."

By the way, my chickens lay brown and blue eggs and after I saw your Easter tree (and how you used tea-bags to get the desired effects) I wondered if you'd like a few to dye. They turn a rich, deep hue when they're dyed.

Ok...this probably should have been an e-mail. . . till next comment...

Oops, deleted comment. Here I go again! Thanks for your comment on my blog! I laughed my head off about the 'banana clip' thing! So funny! I've had fun reading through your blog and "getting to know" you! I love how SPT has connected me to so many wonderful women! Fantastic!

Great party idea... Yes... while you feel like you are carrying the weight of so many huge burdens as you serve in this capacity, your friends will anchor you and assist in filling your reservoir. I just saw that Vera Bradley stuff today...loved it! I saw some file folders I think I have to go back for.

What a great idea! I think I may steal that one. You do look great in those sunglasses! Sorry you didn't get to bring them home!

So fun! We did the gift exchange thing at the Rass cousin Christmas party Heather threw. Darin ended up taking the gift we had brought from Richard H. and then felt bad about it the rest of the night. That game just doesn't get good unless the politeness gets left at the door.

Those are some seriously good gifts. I'm just so impressed that you feel a closeness to these women and that you know this many women at all that are inspiring to you, that you can have fun with, that you can cry with, all after living there a very short time! So great.
