Ten

it has been 10 days since I have blogged, looked at blogs, my email or such. I am in a little bit of a rut. I have not finished my Europe trip recap, which I want to finish so I don't forget what a blessing it was for our family. I am returning from 9 days in New Mexico which will have to come after Europe recap and now school is starting on Monday, which brings another whole level of journaling.
I am feeling like how did I ever have the time to blog and remembering the good old days that I would not go to bed without documenting our happenings? What has happened to my blogging energy? How do I get it back?
I am so excited for Pink Christmas I can't stand it! I have had so many sponsors who are going to spoil the girlfriends who signed up with discounts and goodies in the very thick Pink Envelope that will be coming in the mail.
I just got an email for Go City kids that the Lucketts Fair is going on this weekend and am hoping to take the little girls while Jeff and Annie Kate go river rafter with the downtown youth.
I came home to some really great mail and these incredible letter fabric magnets that spell the letter Stretch (my word of the year) I love them and can't wait to get a good mail post going --

Annie Kate has her first soccer practice today. It is not really her sport, but that is what we said about swimming so who knows. I must go get shoes by 5:00 pm and am still sitting in my jammies (2:21 pm)

I must also think of something cute for the "Magic School Bus" to bring for the girls on Sunday night, if anyone did this and has any great ideas let me know.
And... Anne just called and is sending my family dinner tonight, now that is some warm good mail. Thanks Anne, how would I adjust to getting back from trips without you!

So, I am off to unpack, shower and get my head in the game. If anyone has any good blogging rut advice for me pass it on.

welcome back- look forward to reading about your trips...whenever you get around to it. Blogging is for you, so there should be no pressure- do it when you want to or need to or can. I always love your posts, so here's a gentle "yeah you can do it" from a friend! :)

Hi Kristi...
I used your Magic School Bus idea... changed it to a little Back To School Fairy (who drives a little yellow bus!) (It was SO fun-- thank you for being SOOO inspiring to me to be a "funner" mom!) Anyway, I gave my daughter a journal and a book she'd been wanting...

Thanks again. I LOVE your blog. I can't figure out how to e-mail you, but you've truly helped make my life BETTER!!

Welcome home. I hope your trip to New Mexico went well. That Anne is so sweet.

My Luci starts soccer practice tonight as well. I found cleats for her at Wal-Mart - jackpot! Griffin insisted on Adidas though so we got his at Academy Sports.
Thanks for all you are doing with Pink Christmas!

Welcome back! I missed you.

Blogging rut advice? I think Mindy gave some excellent advice. Sometimes I just have to do a mighty swoosh and start fresh. And, every now and then a new topic lends itself to an old memory and I stick what I would have said had I kept up there.

Again, welcome home.

Welcome home~ I missed your blog.I have to agree with hilary above~ you are so inspiring & I am really excited to particpate in pink christmas this year. I think you might need a vacation from your vacations. sometimes that's how I feel even if I had a great time, as great as it is to get out of the normal routine it's great to get back too. Read Jill's blog for a definate pick-me-up. So glad Anne is there. Way to go Anne with dinner!!!

Welcome Back! I have missed you so much. I just popped my sponsor shipment in the mail to you. It should be there on Saturday.

My advice to you re: your rut is to just blog what you feel like. We love reading about your European vacation, but don't feel like you have to post all of that before you can move on to other stuff. Take your time, you can always go back and revisit the different questions you want to answer in later posts.

I was in a blogging rut about a month ago. I think it has something to do with vacation because when I am away it's harder to return with all the other stuff.

Good luck with soccer! Taylor is trying basketball this year. Should be fun!

Welcome back. Just get your kids back in school and the routine will lend itself to a return to your routine of blogging. You will get your groove back! Give yourself a break, you will be back soon, feeling refreshed. A nice summer break from routines and then a return to the school year does that.

I am so glad you liked the fabric magnets!! :)
For some reason I have a little stack of good mails things with your name on them..I keep seeing things that remind me of you or your family....weird I know....but I feel like your blog is very honest, down to earth and makes it easy to get to know you.
I don't know if that will inspire you out of your rut...I know what you mean. It's like you are gone and so much has happened, so much to catch up on, too many things to do- where do you begin? It's kind of daunting. You'll get your groove back though I'm sure.
Can't wait to be involved with Pink Christmas this year!!!!

I am so glad you are back- I've missed your blog. I hope you don't stay in a rut too long- you have too many fans!! (no pressure!)

I'm so glad you're back! I'm sorry about the blogging funk, but that will pass as soon as you have a moment to post something fun (like your good mail perhaps). I would advise staying current and then going back to catch up on the rest of your trip, otherwise it's overwhelming.

Anne is so sweet to send you guys dinner tonight, what a fantastic idea!

Does Annie Kate really have pink cleats or is that just good blogging right there?

No tip on the blog rut, I've been in one too. But if you manage to NOT fall into an unpacking rut, write a post how that happened. I have suitcases from a vacation two weeks ago still sitting on the floor of my room!

I need an idea for the magic school bus also. I need to put that on the top of my list for tomorrow.

And I can't wait for Pink Christmas either!

I'm glad you made it home safely.

The pictures of Eruope are amazing! I really want to go. Glad you are back.

Welcome home, it's wonderful to travel and see new sights but a nights sleep in your bed is such a treat.

I understand about the rut and have been in and out of one for the last 6 months, my last reason for holding out on starting my own blog. A poor excuse, I'm sure.

Start back slow, the love will come back.

Kristi - I love the idea of the Magic School Bus bring them something before the start of school. My girls start full time on the 5th, what have you given to them in the past? I was thinking of giving them little necklaces to wear that has their initial on it, something from me that they'll have with them all day at school. As far as getting yourself back into blogging again - I say take it easy, you always have great ideas and inspire so many (just look at all the comments!) One day here soon, you'll get the inpiration and start writing again!

I will have to look at your magic school bus idea..

to me kristi you are like the oprah of blogging.. whatever kristi says or does or endorses has got to be good! not to put any pressure on you... but seriously I don't know any other blog (and I am not looking for one) that has such fun and inspiring ideas.. I am so glad you share..

Welcome back! I missed you! As for getting your blog energy back, take baby steps!

Magic school bus could bring maybe some cool little decorative things to hang from backpack zippers? New chapter book to start off the new year? Funky pens/pencils?

I'm glad you posted about this, because I want to do that this year!

I'm excited for Pink Christmas as well!

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of Europe and your NM trip as well!

Welcome Home Kristi! Your warm dinner/good mail sounds perfect. How thoughtful of Anne!

I have felt the blogging pressure this summer with being pg and sick. I have wanted to do so much but just haven't gotten it done. I feel your pain. You always seem to manage great recaps and memories so I say take your time and only do what works!

michelle said...

I'm glad you're back! I can see how you would be feeling overwhelmed. Maybe when the girls start school you will have a little more time for yourself? Be good to you, Kristi!

I think blogging cleanses the soul, but you should never feel any pressure about blogging. Just say what you feel. Go at it slowly. Write when you feel like it and not any specific time or day. It is not bad to have a break from it.

carlo said...

trying to get myself back into the groove, too. your post hit home when you mentioned wondering how you used to keep up on blogs. i have wondered the same thing about myself.

your european trip looked divine! i love your pics/posts. how wonderful and such great memories for your girls. we can't wait to take our girls someday.

hope your funk passes and enjoy your warm dinner. how sweet is anne?

I am with you on "falling into a rut" about blogging! I love it, but it just has been difficult to fit in of late. I have loved reading about your Eurpean vacation. So fun!

Getting a new blog design has always helped me get out of a rut. There are some really great places out there that help. I found this place recently-

You are a wonderful blogger and bring tons of ideas and smiles into our days. THank you!!!
